Press release on summoning the Charge D’Affaires ad interim of the Federal Republic of Germany in Russia to the Foreign Ministry
On September 2, the Charge D’Affaires ad Interim of the Federal Republic of Germany in Russia was summoned to the Foreign Ministry.
The German diplomat was informed that the Russian side firmly rejects the entirely unfounded allegations made by official Berlin concerning Russia’s alleged involvement in an incident said to have occurred at Leipzig Airport. It was emphasised that we regard the German Government’s decision to close the Russian Consulate General in Bonn and the Russian House of Science and Culture in Berlin under this spurious pretext as yet another step towards completely demolishing the potential of bilateral relations which had been painstakingly built up over generations by Russian and German politicians and diplomats.
It was emphasised that Berlin has deliberately resorted to an overt provocation aimed at escalating tensions in Russian-German relations.
The actions of the German authorities will receive a strong response.
