I see arguing for controls on gen AI to be similar to gun restriction. The genie is out of the bottle, and it doesn't make sense to shaft normal and properly-functioning human beings over it. Hopefully it'll finally get more people to place less trust in anything they see. Not holding my breath, though.

The donwside of this "benefical development" of current AI technology is that the enemy will use it as well. While it may not be the swarm of Troonworlders I have seen enough examples of horrible AI usage throught different spaces. Remember, AI as of now is an public "tool" available to anyone and can even be upgraded by those with bigger pockets. If AI usage could be limited to those who know how to use it, I wouldn't be all too panicking about its rise. Sadly, AI had been planned and is majorly developed in the jewish land down under, so the dangers that it brings are purely intentional by design.

Also, since AI discussions and general generative AI are unspoken of in the parts of Troonworld, and their direct political forbiddeness of this forum are preventing the normies not in moderational power to even dare visiting us, most of them will likely not see these satirical posts. They will pick their own drama to bring upon us. Our discussions about Troonworld and the Groomer Troons do not affect them at the end of the day, with the pictures going in the same direction. Zip-bomb the moderation staff instead LMAO.

(Great custom Heretic map screenshots...)
Impressive ligthning and great city/castle design overall! It appears as an natural expansion from the original Episodes. The maps are greater in size and detail with improved progression. Many of the shared screenshots would be a perfect fit for a Hexen set. An perfect example would be the hanged bodies in the city center. I could imagine sperglord losing his mind as he realizes that persistent quality of this degree could've made an terrific community. Now the gameplay must consist of the same standards as these promising screenshots. Otherwise it will lose much of the quality. I have an old Heretic map set in a forest if that may be of any interest. It only is half the map I intended. If you may want to use it or if I could even finish it for this very project I'll be available any time on Discord and private messages.

Indeed, really great stuff, especially the lighting works!
I planning to do something for Heretic using shareware assets only, for now i just gathered all the sources used in episode 1 only and saved all in one helpful picture.
Wonder if i can do something for this with all the stuff planned and wrote down in various text files on my phone or that i just made 1 or 2 maps (even just the resource wad in one case!) and leave to rot until i find time to do them lol

Another benefit of generative AI stuff is you could reformulate your own art with it to avoid style recognition by the freakshow brigade, maintaining pseudo-anonymity as needed. An important benefit under anarcho-tyranny's tiered injustice system of inverted morals.

So representing the people on Doomworld who are creating and participating in these projects with AI-created art somehow seems very appropriate. Plus it has the added effect of insulting them with the use of AI, which the Doomworld hivemind hates with a passion.

Yea, exactly. That's the main reason why i consider this to be the perfect tool to mock Troonworld. Right now there's a lot to be desired from the end results, but AI improves fast and sooner or later, a time will come when it will create near perfect art for simple purposes like this. I'm still against it when it comes to people pressenting stuff as their own work, and i especially hate it when it's used for clickbait and fakery on youtube. On the other hand there are a lot of parody channels on youtube, who openly use AI to mock social media trends or the modern movie industry. They can be very entertaining.

I have never tried Ben Bracken.. but if it is a highland you cannot go wrong. Tbh I always stick with Famous Grouse as my cheap scotch. Will try to find Ben Bracken.

I guess I will provide a comparison between two wheated bourbons since youtubers are somewhat hyping one. Old Fitzgerald 7 y/o vs Weller 107.

Long story short 107 destroys Old Fitzgerald imo. Even if you have to pay a bit more it is worth getting the 107. The best way to describe the Fitzgerald is that someone sucked all of the mids out of a guitar tone.. it is just missing stuff. The 107 is full bodied and delicious. Highly recommended. I would say just skip the Fitzgerald all together, if you are thinking of trying it, and just get something you know you like instead.

I'm not a fan of these either but they bring harm to nobody. At least there. Can't say the same for de(pra)viantart, xitter and piSSsky.

I sort of enjoy the AI pictures. If you think about many of these "Community Projects", they end up being low effort crap based on some idiotic gimmick that isn't clever or interesting. I've always seen generative AI as low-effort in of itself. It has allowed hordes of untalented and greedy bastards to quickly capitalize on trends and people's trust. Using it to bait reactions out of the Troonworld crowd seems unecessary as well, since Time of Doom (and with it TimeOfDeath HIMself) by name alone triggers the sleeper agent woke-codes of the Troon hivemind. Before I will be categorized by some as a "borderline retard" I do know that not a single picture will cause mass-destruction, but it does contribute with the swarm published by brownoids of the third kind daily. It is not much I will be able to achieve with my heart-warming words, but as Tangra had put it into my own perspective: You fought and died with your pure honesty, that can not be taken from you.

I will also refer to the actual topic of this thread since DehackEd has been a relevant topic on my side in the last few days when I started a new mod project. Custom monsters and weapons are only acceptable, if:

- their according sprites and sounds directly fit into the theme of the wad. May that be Vanilla Doom, a Fantasy mod, a Sci-Fi mod, and other countless examples.

- they're balanced well and offer new gameplay loops and mechanics on top of the base game.

- they'll be relevant throughout the wad and not equivalent to one-night stances (bosses and mini-bosses will need a sense of build-up for a good surprise, same goes for ultimate weaponry).

The WolfenDoom series and the likes of the Aliens and Batman TC had genuine creative trickery thanks to DehackEd, which allowed for impressive and well-thought encounters and arsenals. They are prime examples of what is achievable when greater knowledge and care of the source material is present and put on-screen for all to enjoy. Lesser wads of that era, for example Army of Darkness and "Aliens Doom 3: Aliens vs. Predator", also had things of their own, which added fun entertainment and (rarely) more impressive features for a rather simple Doom wad. And yes, Army of Darkness is a one-of-a-kind wad using Hexen sprites for its representation of Deadites, poor Tangra :(. The only issues I would ever face with any custom assets is when they are lazely slapped on a shovelware wad with duct-taped DehackEd coding changes, blowing everything out of proportions. Those never have actual entertainment value as the two "lesser wads" that I have spoken about and enter cult status for some nieche troonie audience, as if they were a trashy Troma release. The Sky May Be the worst contender for this criminal offense. A comparison with it and The Room is definetly fitting.

P.S: The lead of The Sky May Be, Doug the Eagle, is an obvious furry who (as I believe anyway) outed himself as such in the early 2000's Becky style. That explains its poor quality and vomit-inducing insanity, nevertheless its TWO YEAR DEVELOPMENT CYCLE and an furious, demonic God as the main antagonist. Even back then furries and troonies alike couldn't even imagine pulling their hand out of the sand they were masturbating in.

These AI pictures are starting to irritate me the more I see them. MS-Paint and Paint.net double the hilarity and allow for the whole picture to be realized. CuckGoyPeeT simply copies and shits out whatever it likes based on vague prompts. I already see some of the elements of former CPH "art". The electrical bill is sizzling!

If the new monsters and guns fits with the mod vibe, it's all good!
I'll never forget how i was amazed by the added new enemies rooster of Knee-deep in ZDoom back in the mid 2000s!

I personally prefer smaller changes to the original monsters... like having that more aggressive Baron of Hell that shoots fireballs from both hands. Makes it different from the HK and gives you more reasons to use it. Cybe Jr. (with 1000 health) opens the door for more varied encounters, and allows you to use it without killing the pace, if a BFG is not yet given to the player. He's much better than the rocket baron too, because he's taller, and stands out in a horde of monsters. One additional cacodemon variant is also nice to have. I don't like the Eviternity ones, i prefer the fire breathing caco used in Jamal Jones, except for the fact that it has more health than a normal caco for no good reason. The short burst plasma trooper is also nice to have. Oh yes, also the lost souls with half the health.

Now for the additions that can ruin a wad for me. Starting with sprites that don't look like they belong in Doom (even if they behave like the original monsters), or are directly taken from other games, even from ones made on the Doom engine. Heretic and Hexen monsters in Doom? I can get never get used to them, even though i like Heretic. More types of hitscanners? Who needs that? By far, the worst is the chaingun arachnotron. Oh though, now that i think of it, a Spiderdemon with a smaller hitbox could make it more useful, but it still has to be a boss monster with a large health pool and size. The arachnotron version is useless.
More unwelcomed types - the kamikaze zombies from Valiant, that are ripped off from Serious Sam. In Sam, they work and are among the most memorable monsters that instantly put you on edge. In Doom, they're trash that doesn't belong.
I already complained about the beefier pinkies in Eviternity. Having a faster, more aggressive pinky is actually nice, but why the hell to they need to be damage sponges that slow you down for no good reason? Another variety i dislike are zombies with overpowered weapons, like the rapid firing plasma trooper, or the worst kind, the rocket zombies... going back to the point i made about Cybe Jr., a monster that can insta-kill you on full health, needs to stand out from the crowd and have a well projected attack.

When it comes to weapons, the only change i like is the faster chaingun. Don't need anything else. I never touched Legacy of Rust, but i've seen videos and i find the new weapons to be utterly pointless.

This thread got off topic, lol. But I do want to reply.
Dragonfly was the lead for Eviternity 1+2. From what I can recall, he was vocal about not wanting to work on a third entry anytime soon, being very burnt out from the process of working on the sequel.
Going off the wiki, he created/helped with the majority of maps on both.
It seems reasonable, to me, that the burnout hurt his inspiration. Hence that samey feeling.
Edit: I have read this sameyness complaint about both of these wads, though, the many arenas they lock you in being the most obvious repetition.

as i recall dragonfly was already "regretting" the time he spent on the first eviternity while he was secretely working on the second one, a red herring that completely fooled me in retrospect. i suspect he wasn't lying about being burned out though, because who wouldn't?

if we're gonna kkk powerlevel then jimmy > mechadon > skillsaw > esselfartium > tarnsman > dragonfly > xaser, hot opinions i know. i was looking at the "guest mappers" in the first btsx vs the second one, the first version of the cartel does look better in a sense. same as revilution vs devilution maybe. though they're both kinda boring overall, since essel had these autistic hyperfixations on what qualified as a good doom map that made the result too uniform regardless. "not being polished" was the slur their comrades would throw at dbps, while trying to hijack them back in the day iirc. i prefer the shovelware adjacent ones myself, so i wouldn't think highly about e.g. the eviternity arenas nowadays if i were to replay them, but they felt novel at the time

the history lesson is that not overdoing dehacked shenanigans may be good, but obsessing about reinventing vanilla purity is just another path to troonery. shalom
