**UPDATE - Shein removes ALL sex dolls from its platform!
Online marketplace SHEIN has removed child sex abuse dolls from its platform after France has threatened to ban it from accessing the country’s market.
France’s anti-fraud watchdog reported the platform for selling “childlike” sex dolls, and in response, SHEIN removed the dolls and announced it would be launching an internal inquiry.
Finance Minister Roland Lescure said that if the dolls returned to the platform, he would move to ban the company from the French market:
If such conduct is repeated, we would be within our legal right to stop Shein's access to the French market. These horrible items are illegal.
The move came a few days after national media attention on our campaign against child sex abuse doll sellers on SHEIN and Temu on ABC.
SHEIN claims they didn't know - but we had told them
A representative for SHEIN claimed the illegal dolls “were immediately removed from the platform as soon as [they] became aware”, but this is false.
We first exposed SHEIN selling child sex abuse dolls in September 2024. After discovering child sex abuse dolls, disembodied replica child heads and legs, we approached the company with our concerns – but were ignored.
We argued that - in addition to being illegal child sexual abuse material - child sex abuse dolls normalise and encourage men’s sexual use and abuse of children. We called on the company to remove all child sex abuse doll listing and commit to never selling them again, and we encouraged our supporters to contact the company with their concerns.
The company was also featured on our 2024 blacklist of corporate offenders because of it (and other incidents of sexualising women and girls - we’ve been calling out the company for years for their paedophilic aesthetic sexualising girls, selling g-strings for toddlers, penis ‘squishy toys’ and merchandise from global porn brand Playboy.)
It is clear that corporates like SHEIN will only act ethically when compelled to do so.
