Can my mutuals PLEASE shut the fuck up about religions you don't like? Can we stop homogenizing countless people over the course of thousands of years? Can we pretty please stop being self-righteous about our own deliberate ignorance?

You don't look like you're taking on The Man or dunking on anyone. You look like the moron you are.

her-butchship-holly

won’t someone PLEASE think of the poor oppressors 😢😢

wyf-of-bathe

You're not being oppressed by the Ismailis and Nestorians, you fucking moron.

her-butchship-holly

Sure. And I, personally, am not being oppressed by Sunnis or Catholics, either. But they are still oppressing every single person who follows their faith. Every woman who is treated as inferior. Every child who grows up indoctrinated. Every queer person who hates themself because they’re told God hates them.

And people just like that live under nestorianism and ismailism.

wyf-of-bathe

So you're an enlightened, liberal Westerner who just wants to save the unenlightened primitive religious peoples from oppressing themselves. Yeah this is just the Western civilizing mission with a coat of secularism, which is even more stupid because historically and currently, secularism is just as likely as any religion to oppress queer rights. Queer rights are consistently best protected in societies that promote pluralism, not secularism.

I just cannot get over how unhinged, arrogant, ignorant, and - ironically - culturally Evangelical this is. Complete nonsense. And none of this touches the homogenizing and inversion you're doing?? You're just a wannabe imperialist.

her-butchship-holly

If that’s the way you want to frame it, sure. Whatever. If it takes imperialism to rid the world of religion, I will happily be an imperialist.

But it is demonstrably untrue that queer rights are better protected in pluralist societies. Pluralism only leaves the door open for religious moralism to enter government. The United States is pluralist. So is the UK. Meanwhile, the first state in post-classical history to promote queer and women’s rights, Revolutionary France, was also the first explicitly atheist state.

Why am I even arguing this? Why do I need a high-minded liberal reason to banish religion to the depths of hell (ironic wording, I know), anyway? Faith should be destroyed because it is a lie, plain and simple. God and Yahweh and Allah and Buddha and Krishna and a thousand other deities are fake and always were. What better reason is there to banish something than that it is false?

wyf-of-bathe

image

I honestly don't know whether to start with the open endorsement of imperialism, the fact that women in Revolutionary France literally never gained political rights and actually had fewer rights than women in medieval France, or that you're essentially Vladimir Lenin.

So I'm ending this conversation. Change your blog description btw.

smegorl

"To banish religion to the depths of hell" and there's the christian mindset clear as day! Glad she can so clearly demonstrate the ways antitheism is so deeply tied in with christianity as to be functionally inseperable.

We” “execution” “no country would want them”.......... “Thoughts?” 😇

skyptical-deactivated20251018

*leftistly* let’s put Jews in camps and execute them if they resist.

But hey, remember I’d totally punch a Nazi!

queer-scots-geordie-dyke

These psychopaths just want to reenact the Final Solution while imagining themselves so very righteous and moral as they do so, just like the Nazis did. Punch a Nazi? These deranged, evil motherfuckers need to take a look in the nearest mirror.

gingerswagfreckles

Reminder that there is a mandatory conscription period in the IDF for all Jewish Israeli citizens, though non-Jews do not have to serve. So when people talk about executing everyone who has ever served in the IDF they are talking about executing the entire adult Jewish population of Israel, which is 40% of the world's Jewish population and near 100% of the Mizrahi Jewish population, aka those "brown Jews" you guys like to pretend agree with your murderous antisemitism despite the fact that they all live in Israel because they were all forcibly expelled from their home countries in the Middle East within the last 70 years.

kick-a-long

They, ppl like anon, know. They understand they are talking about nazi shit and final solution shit. That’s the point. Nazi ideology rebranded as leftist and communist and anarchist action. The entire thing is a performance for non Jews using Jews as unwitting improve partners.

It’s designed to appeal to the younger gen z and alpha audience that is more interested in trends and aesthetics than results because their entire personality is a kid that wants to play with matches, burn the house down and justify their anger without taking responsibility for rebuilding the things they destroyed. It’s a performance to encourage nihilism and violence. It’s hoping that the one in a million kid can’t see the irony and shoots up a school.

I would be more interested in it if it were any deeper than neo nazis mass manipulating middle and upper class kids and twenty something’s into Jew hate as astrology and political theory. They (the target audience of this anon) don’t even have the conviction of hate which is why they keep pretending that antizionism is even slightly different than antisemitism. It impossible to respect people too stupid and desperate to be fashionable that they give away their entire moral compass and intellect to online neo nazi recruiters for a few pats on the head.

A thing to try: don't make gods for your fantasy TTRPG setting.

Instead, get each player to tell you the god their character follows, then roll a d6 behind the screen.

  • 6: Their god is real, and as powerful as they believe it to be; maybe they even listen to prayers; maybe they even care. Maybe they care more about if your shellfish wear mixed fabrics.
  • 5: It's a real entity, but whose power is exaggerated - like as a river spirit, but they're worshipped thousands of miles away from it for prayers their expertise with rivers leaves them woefully unprepared to answer
  • 4: It's a powerful demon or dragon or monster of some kind which has tricked people into worshipping it - sure it's powerful, but that power is entirely self-serving, it couldn't answer your prayers if it wanted to
  • 3: It's a person who, through real power, political influence or just straight up charisma, has tricked people into worshipping them, or through a series of misunderstandings has been mistaken for a god against their will
  • 2: It was a long-dead person whose legacy has passed into legend - they may once have been a 3, or they may just have been famous in their life and not seen as godly until long after their death
  • 1: Just a wholesale myth with no basis in reality. Maybe your god started off as a cautionary tale a mother made up to stop her children sucking their thumbs and over the retellings the whole "god of war" thing just sort of happened because of the massive scissors, and now the scissors are gone and all that's left is battlefield chants.

And of course, let the players know about this before you roll. Tell them about their odds, but never tell them about their gods.

Get the impression from this tag I've unknowingly spread an antisemitic trope in this but don't know enough Torah to know what

hypokeimena

[image: screenshot of my tags, reading #unwarranted drive by potshot at torah both unnecessary and not very funny either. #anyway i like [text cuts off]. /end ID]

@baddywronglegs this doesn't require any torah knowledge at all, only the knowledge that torah and the old testament are more or less the same books.* while christianity has largely set aside the old testament, the implication that either a god or the god's observant followers might care about things like shellfish or mixing fibers (which as you present them are obviously both stupid and arbitrary things to care about) is pretty much always antisemitic. jews still have a relationship to leviticus which is active, current, and living - many jews follow some or all of those laws, and many do not, and many otherwise have complicated relationships to the laws of torah, which are relationships i personally think christians and ex-christians should usually stay out of rather than comment on.**

but in general, any description of the old testament or its god as being stupid, regressive, arbitrary, or vengeful/unforgiving - which i am aware is extremely common in christian contexts - is something that imo is inappropriate regardless, but especially unnecessary in mixed company and/or in front of jews who did not ask.

many, many parts of christianity are radically different interpretations of things which exist in judaism, and many, many parts of christianity are historically or currently antisemitic. i do understand that rejecting christianity is an emotionally fraught and complicated process, but i do personally wish that more ex-christians made the effort to divest themselves of christian supercessionism and other antisemitic tropes baked into christian doctrine!

christians not following old testament law is not, in fact, religiously hypocritical: the whole conceit of christianity is that jesus obviated the necessity of keeping old testament law. this means that e.g. christians claiming that the homophobic bits in lev 18 & 22 should bind the behavior of modern christians is hypocritical - but claiming that christians should care about shellfish or shatnetz isn't; the whole point of christianity is that they don't have to.

however, the continued existence of people (jews) following the "old testament" and not accepting jesus as their savior has been a driving factor in large quantities of historical antisemitism. it is destabilizing for christians, whose religion requires itself to be the ~true completion of jewish doctrine~, to realize that plenty of jews don't see that as true.

i think given your awareness that you do not know much about torah, it probably would have been appropriate for you to try and do some research rather than opening the floor to your apparently largely ex-christian follower base. many of the things people are saying in response to you in your notes are incorrect, or partially correct but misleading.

i also do wish you had approached me privately about this. please note that i did not use the word antisemitic in my tags, just unnecessary (which it was); comments like yours are extremely common - i see them a lot, and it's not going to wreck my whole day or anything, just cause me to leave a slightly annoyed tag before actually engaging with the content of the post (which is what the rest of my cut-off tags consisted of). however, i am currently receiving mildly to moderately antisemitic anons -- which is the only reason i knew something had happened in my notes and worked out you'd rb'd this.

baddywronglegs

Thanks for this

Suddenly protesting with photos of children killed in Gaza is no longer anti-semitic?

2peachy answered:

Its antisemitic if you hold it next to a person doing a sieg heil

kwippo

I'll add - it's antisemitic if you also chant "from the river to the sea" and thus de-facto eliminate our nationality.
It's antisemitic if you constantly dismiss Jews' fears, pain and trauma.
It's antisemitic if you excuse, ignore or even deny what had happened to us (including the systematic rape).
It's antisemitic if you think one cannot protest for the hostages as well besides the genocide.
Israelis who hold posters of dead Palestinian children care for both Israelis and Palestinians.
They hope for peace and call for the two states solution. Their chants aren't: "From the river to the sea Palestine will be free", but rather, "from the river to the sea, only two democracies will set us free" or "from the river to the sea will all need therapy".
Glad I could help.

echojulietfoxtrot asked:

Howdy. I know you're surely over the drama by now, but I thought the incinerator operator piece was amazing. Really ruthlessly crystallizes how easy it is to fragment responsibility for atrocity into neatly digestible little morsels that everyone gets a piece of, and nobody has to choke on. The - very obvious - historical context and reference is what charges it.

mimsymars answered:

Thank you. I’m really glad that some people got something out of it! I’m trying to feel proud of what was good about it, while still taking steps to ensure I’m not as clumsy or accidentally antisemitic with my art in the future as I was with that piece.

It was my first real foray into a video with any sort of serious subject matter, so if nothing else, I’m honestly really glad that I’m getting as much feedback as I have been! A lot of it is hard to hear, but a lot of people have also been really kind, both in their criticism and their praise, and I’ve already learned a ton about what not to do for my next attempt at something in that vein.

Overall, the “drama” has been a productive learning experience for me, and I’ve even made a few new friends through it, in a community I have otherwise not spent a lot of time with (I grew up in rural Utah, lmfao. Unfortunately, if I have ever met a Jewish person IRL, it was not in a situation that they felt the need to disclose it to me, so my viewpoint until all of this was extraordinarily limited.)

We listen, we improve, and we soldier onwards and upwards to better and more inclusive and thoughtful writing!

fromchaostocosmos

By calling it drama it just goes to show just how little you understand.

And if you honestly think that this is because we are online so it is a people online being deranged thing you are sadly mistaken. Because most Jews whether online or in person would be just as appalled by that video.

Also it is not moving forward when you don't apologizes to the people you've hurt and take ownership for your wrongdoing and keep your video up on other platforms. No, what that is instead is just ignoring the community who you are harming.

You most certainly have not listened nor have you improved. You are not being inclusive in any way, shape, or form at least when it comes to Jews.

fromchaostocosmos

[For the record please do not harass OP. We can criticize her which I think we have all done a decent job of over all and explain why we are upset and hurt; which there is nothing wrong with doing that. Just make sure it doesn't cross the line into harassment and/or bullying. ]

I am still so bothered, unsettled, grossed out, disquieted, just a host of emotions along these lines by the fact this is all being called "drama"

We are calling out that our trauma and pain is being appropriated and that imagery from a Genocide, in which we were the specific targets of said Genocide and the reason it was done, is being used all while divorcing us and our connection to this imagery. And us attempting to bring attention to this and to explain why this not only insulting, but is is disrespectful is being called "drama"

It is repulsive.
