The actual gameplay is really fun. The only thing is that the controls are the worst thing to every exist. I had to spend 20 minutes just fixing all the controls because they were that messed up and confusing.

Moonlighter looks and sounds fantastic—the pixel art, soundtrack, and shopkeeper-meets-dungeoneer premise are genuinely charming.

Unfortunately, the novelty wears off fast. The gameplay loop quickly turns into a monotonous grind of looting, selling, and upgrading with little variety. The combat feels frustratingly stiff, hampered by clunky dodge rolls and awkward hitboxes. Worst of all, the shop management is surprisingly undercooked, boiling down to mindless trial-and-error pricing rather than any deep strategy.

It has plenty of charm, but the shallow mechanics make it hard to recommend unless it's on a steep discount.

There is literally no mouse support... extremely annoying to play if you use keyboard instead of a controller. Especially the menus. Feels like a cheap console port to PC.

Quick dungeon-looter with nice shop twist. Start is a little slow, but things feel very good once you get your first set of armor and a favorite weapon. Family friendly btw, so that's a plus.

I'd say worth the price, but you could wait for a sale if you really want. You probably get 15-25hrs of gametime out of it, and then it has replayability if you want harder difficulty or want to master more weapons.

This was a fun game - nothing groundbreaking, but fun. The shop manager aspect was a nice reprieve from the dungeon crawling, it had a fun little progression system. I think the shop management and finding optimal prices was a wee bit tedious, BUT that's really my only primary complaint. The dungeons were sufficiently difficult, and the linear power curve really makes you feel like your getting stronger as you progress. I'm excited to try out the sequel.

But for real, Naja sucks and I hope everyone curb stomps that dumb worm, snake thing.
7/10

A solid 7/10 Zelda-like game where you explore Dungeons and sell the extra loot at your store

The combat's basic but there's plenty of weapon variety to mix things up and keep the rogue-like dungon runs interesting. Meanwhile the shopkeeping segments in-between dungeons are a nice break from the action and focus more on managing your inventory.
The pixel art is appealing and reminds me of 2D Zelda, the characters have some charm, but the world lacks in depth.

This game is charming and captivating. The loop feels great - delve as deep as you can for the best loot, without overdoing it, then spend the day cultivating a little shop and trying to figure out the best value for those items. Little QOL features like tracking items I need for crafting from the dungeon are spectacular, I'm blown away by the quality of this little game and I look forward to seeing what the sequel expands on

A really engaging action RPG with some fun shopkeeper elements tied directly into the story, Moonlighter surprised me. I was expecting something a little more average to be honest, and was blown away by how good this game is. The dungeon crawl to shopkeeper loop feels very rewarding as you adjust prices and find those sweet spots for making money, and the enemies and bosses offer enough variety to be very fun to go up against and never feel stale -- even when you're just grinding for some better gear, or an upgrade to something non-gear related. I would, and will play this one again. You should too!

Fun little game! reminds me of classic Zelda with a rogue-like twist. Nostalgic in all the best ways.

so i think the gameplay is fine but not for me, but the controller issue needs to be fixed, it barely detects my controller and will just not work at times. for a game that recommends to be played with a controller, it should be easy to use a controller.

Gave this a shot during the free owning period. Never before as a game's default control scheme repelled me this much, and the fact that the game includes a controller remapping function that completely bugs out if you DARE remap the attack button is so obnoxious it loops back around to being hilarious. Very annoying because the premise is incredibly compelling. Ill push on for now but yeah keep this oddity in mind before buying.

Firstly: The fact that the only way to find out how to use the menu on Keyboard and Mouse, being through a random support page on steam WITH THE LOCKED COMMENT OF "WILL NOT FIX", is an asinine decision. If you are going to use a nonstandard key to do menu entry, the least of your job is to tell the player what that key is.

Secondly: Trying to follow the games instructions to use a controller instead, my Switch 1 controller will not work. At all. Both my Triggers, instead of doing a dodge roll like it seems it should be doing, just pause the game. Further, turning on Steam Input to try to force the inputs to be correct just further shows that the game does not understand the triggers. Left Trigger is set to Left Trigger in steam input, and yet it still pauses the game.

When I can't access the game with keyboard because you don't show how to progress with it in game, and controller just doesn't work, that's not a good sign. I'm just glad this was on the free release weekend so I didn't waste my money on a game that isn't easily controllable.

I got this game during the free sale thing, and I still want a refund for time wasted. I got softlocked because (the game never tells you this) The pendant which you use to exit the dungeon costs in game currency, Which I suppose is fine, until you are stuck in a dungeon with no way out (I did try backtracking to the entrance didn't work either) and you cant sell from your inventory, so you are stuck. I cant even die to leave the dungeon because it spawns you right back inside. 4/10 might come back if the devs actually fix stuff. Its sad because the game has a good premise, but is executed horribly.
