So here’s the thing: Iran is an enormous, densely populated, rugged, mountainous country with complete control over what is arguably the world’s most important shipping lane.

You do not go to war with such a country without overwhelming force, and the willingness to soak the ground in blood…including your own. It’s like Afghanistan times fifty. Remember Afghanistan? Remember how well that worked out? Afghanistan is where empires go to die. Iran is worse.

Before we invaded, Iran's government was teetering on the brink. Protestors had seized control of several cities. Khamenei had started moving money out of the country and was preparing to flee; he’d already arranged safe passage to Russia.

Then we attacked. Sure we killed him…

…and then his son, who is even worse than he was, took over. The protests stopped. The Khamenei regime will remain for at least another 40 years.

Now the strait is closed, Iran holds all the cards, the price of oil is through the roof, and Iran will remain in the hands of the Khamenei regime until the 2060s at least.

Nice going.

I wonder if any of the people who were cheering for the attack have enough insight or self-examination to understand what a pooch-screw that was.

Then there's also the Persian pride factor. These folks have the beginning of civilization baked into their collective mind set. Yes, the average Iranian hates the condition of their nation politically, and were actively disrupting it. On their own, they would have succeeded, at least that WAS the t…

My Islamic history professor in uni said there’s a famous Bedouin saying: “I against my brother; I and my brother against my neighbor; I, my brother, and my neighbor against the outsider.” This is, rather interestingly, characteristic of what sociologists call “low trust societies.” The US has been f…

K'naan, a somali singer, had a similar theme in his verse on Damian Marleys - "Tribes at War" "Mindless violence, Well let me try to paint it
Here's the 5 steps, In hopes to explain it
One!
Its me and my nation against the world
Two!
Then me and my clan against the nation
Three!
Then me and my fam' against the clan
Four!
Then me and my brother we no hesitation
Uh!
Go against the fam' until they cave in
Five!
Now who's left in this deadly equation?
That's right, it's me against my brother
Then we point a kalashnikov
And kill one another"
Like if an alien race were to attack earth… I' m sure humanity would come together without any prompting from any world leader. Our differences won't disappear overnight, it will disappear instantly! Picture the aliens landing in Western Ukraine/Eastern Russia (your choice), the warring parties will i…

Trying to blame Obama because the JCPOA “wasn’t good enough”

Biden.

“I wonder if any of the people who were cheering for the attack have enough insight or self-examination to understand what a pooch-screw that was.” They have been very clear, they went in because Israel was going to attack anyway but also they never said that. They want the help of ungrateful alles th…

It’s nukes capabilities were ended with the Obama agreement, they only restarted because of Trump.

Israel and Iran have been in a indirect war with each other for the last 30 years. Sometimes it becomes direct with Israel carrying out air strikes and special forces raids in Iran, Iran act's via it's proxies and occasionally lobs missiles and drones at Israel. Without US involvement this round woul…

Generally true, but the assessment of the leadership fleeing and all that nonsense was likely one cited by an unknown intelligence agency to The Times. Which this “unknown intelligence agency” is likely Beni Sabti of… you can guess which intelligence agency. So not surprising Trump and the general we…

I think Ayatollah will probably turn out to have some of terminal illness, probably prostate cancer, he was prepared to die and wanted to die at the hands of the Israelis or Americans, which is why he was hanging out for days in well known locations. I suspect the plans that he was moving money outsi…

It takes a stable genius to make the murderous Iranian regime look good.
