It's been a busy day thanks to Nintendo's huge hour-long Direct, but the Japanese broadcast still managed to have a surprise in store for us — Mega Man Star Force: Legacy Collection.
Coming to Switch in 2026, Capcom announced the collection via the Japanese showcase, but also dropped an English trailer, confirming we'd be seeing the remastered set in the West in 2026. The game will also be at this year's Tokyo Game Show.
Mega Man Star Force is a subseries of RPGs that launched on the DS between 2007 and 2009, to coincide with the Blue Bomber's 20th anniversary.

And, in this collection, all three games are included — Mega Man Star Force, Mega Man Star Force 2, and Mega Man Star Force 3, along with their respective additional versions. So, let's break it down:
- Mega Man Star Force Leo
- Mega Man Star Force Dragon
- Mega Man Star Force Pegasus
- Mega Man Star Force 2 ZerkerxNinja
- Mega Man Star Force 2 ZerkerxSamurai
- Mega Man Star Force 3 Black Ace
- Mega Man Star Force 3 Red Joker
These games continue to evolve the gameplay from Mega Man Battle Network, though back in the day, many critics thought the newer titles didn't go far enough.
You can check out more details on the collection's official website, but colour us surprised by the announcement!

Best announcement of the day! Super excited about this.
The Legends community is in shambles
only collection left is legends, i hope this has the kaizou cards and the other japanese exclusive content elements, just like they did for the battle network collection. If this does well maybe we can get a new battle network/starforce game
Wait, why wasn't THIS in the Direct?? What are we doing here, we got more expositing on PowerWash Simulator 2 when we could've gotten the rundown on Star Force, yeesh!
I am very glad the Mega Man Star Force games are getting a legacy collection! While these combo RPG/card battlers aren't as solid as the Mega Man Battle Network series, they're still very much worth playing if you like MMBN.
Really wish these had been in the other broadcasts too, but I'm happy they're confirmed all the same.
Having never played the Mega Man Legends games, I'd like a collection with those as well.
While I personally felt the Star Force series struggled to fill the shoes Battle Network left behind (which IMO, contributed to the Mega Man fatigue in the the late 00s/early 10s), it's a net positive that the series is finding new life beyond the DS; Which means a fresh chance for folks to fall in love with this.
Now with that said... it's officially become hilarious how much Capcom has danced around Legends to give us just about every other mainline series. I'm hoping it's just a matter of "saving the best for last", but they're really not beating the grudge allegations atm.
Finally - Starforce 3 is the only mainline Megaman game that I haven't played, yet.
As someone who was around when the star force games were released I’m kinda embarrassed to admit that I never played these. Time to correct another one of young me’s mistakes!
OMG!!! 😃
But this is for Switch 1 also, right?
With proper game data inside cartridge?
I will get both Switch & PS5 version.
@NintendoPete same. I forget why I never got it. If it was just the fatigue or if I just wasn't playing many games at the time it released.
I would’ve gladly sacrifice some of that Mario stuff if it meant giving this the spotlight. Legit awesome news.
Awesome! Although I agree that THIS should have been in the Nintendo Direct!
Yes, please. Skimming through Wikipedia, it seems like Switch will be only left missing the Legends subseries (1/2 and Tron Bonne) and a handful of spinoffs including the tactical Command Mission and the offline-revived X Dive. Hardly unrealistic to suppose Capcom could bundle both later down the road as well.
Agreed with so many others - this absolutely belonged in the North American version of Nintendo Direct. What a miss by Nintendo and Capcom!
Awesome announcement!!!
This amazing collection should have been in the NA Nintendo Direct!!!
(It was in the japanese Direct)
Now we just need a collection from all the random projects like Command Mission, the Battle Network GC game, the Gameboy games, the two PSP games, the Megaman x Street fighter… and … what am I missing besides the Legends duology and Tronbonne?
The X Dive Offline has been pretty fun on PC too.
I was super excited when I heard this was coming. Day one purchase, for sure!
How tone deaf of Nintendo to omit this announcement from our version of the Direct. This collection is exactly what we want.
The fighting robot Megaman, on to save the world world world!!!
Sounds awesome, hopefully the players enjoy it! I'm surprised this wasn't in the American Nintendo Direct.
@DsheroX
Unfortunately I don’t think that would be the end of it for those for us wondering what Capcom will do when they run out, there’s still a decent chunk of random games that they could just clump together into one last collection or god forbid several.
@Jack_Goetz not that hard to be the best to be fair....
@SalvorHardin I wouldn't hold my breath on the random fighter, cart games, japanese exclusive battlw network 1 remake with starforce. They released the main games, thats all we should hope for, maybe if this was like that old gamecube collection, but I have zero expectations for any of that
And I still have the Battle Network series to get caught up on... The backlog grows again. I'm not sure how far I'll get into these games, but I'm curious to at least check them out as I know very little about them.
And as others have said, please give us a Legends collection, Capcom!
I'm not familiar with this series. The Meteoritic scores are 50s. I guess I will wait until it comes out. They did not show any gameplay in the teaser.
Yeah. Not my megaman
Much like Battle Network, hard pass on this iteration of Megaman for me.
How much longer must we wait for Legends instead?
@Ulysses I could get behind this. If we’re waiting for Legends 3, I’ll wait, but Tron Bonne better be on that Legends collection!
Although I’ll… wait.. either way, I suppose.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think this means that all that's left is the Legends series, and then maybe some obscure Mega Man games that were left behind like the soccer game, the arcade fighting game, Mega Man & Bass, etc.
Gotta finish the Battle Network collection first. I just got my copy a couple months ago. But cool to see!
Btw, I have never played the Star Force.
What is the difference between Battle Network and Star Force in term of gameplay?
And what is difference between each version of Star Force with 3 different variants like Pokemon games?
Holy crap I didn't know the Star Force series had this many games. Definitely will get this again. Of the games in this collection I had only play Star Force Leo. I didn't know it had a Dragon and Pegasus version too.
@Anti-Matter Star Force give 3 tiles to move around, so it's more reaction-based, trying to find the right times to use the right cards. Also the Main character transforms into mega man, instead of there being an operator. Also different versions have different bosses, transformations, and even slightly different story events
God yes
Oh yes God !
I mean RaMu
@Serpenterror
It's just 3..
With the pokemon treatment to split off GigaChips and
Good ol Capcom
@Anti-Matter
Its kinda less open

@DTFaux
It had human touch.
EXE/BN had gameplay.
I preferred Ryuusei's cute story (anime) and charas way more.
It is Capcom's MagnumOpus Rockman side
This comment section is missing HYPE.
Let me. Fix. That.

Woooooo
This is the last bastion between us and a Legends collection. There's nothing left. They've already got a general PS1 emulation setup with X Legacy Pt. 2
Not that it would make porting the Legends games easy, but all three are native on PS1 so some work is already laid out. Unless they decide for some ungodly reason to include 64, and the PSP versions of both Legends..
Though if they included the Legends mobile game from Japan, that would be a pretty sick bonus.
@KayFiOS - Technically the Megaman Gameboy (Rockman World) series would qualify, but it's available on NSO so doubtful. Though they could bundle it with Xtreme 1+2, and both Megaman & Bass games (one never has been released in the west). Otherwise, they could do a spin-off collection maybe? (The three fighting games, soccer, battle & chase, Xtreme 1+2, Command Mission, Network Transmission, Battle Chip Challenge should be a complete list of other releases of note, though I don't see anyone clamoring for the last 3.) .
@abbyhitter @Pillowpants @N00BiSH this one is announced at the JP Direct, so I don't think Nintendo is intentionally omitting it
did not know there were mega man rpgs outside of battle network… hopefully these find a new modern audience tho
i wonder if at this rate they’re gonna rerelease all mega man games and THEN release mega man 12
@PokemonDMG This one’s a human merged with an electromagnetic wave creature
I completely forgot this series existed and I had no idea there were so many games! I love all the vintage Megaman representation on switch 👍
@StewdaMegaManNerd there's a YouTuber who's remaking Mega Man legends in unity, it's quite impressive.
I've never played the Star Force games before, but I'm happy for the fans!
All that's left now is a Legends collection, and maybe a spinoff collection.
@DTFaux
This is one of the megaman, series's which is kind of in a blind-spot for me since i couldn't really get into the Battle network games, im still likely going to give this collection a shot though and am glad they are becoming available on modern systems.
The legends games are definitely the dream for me though. (also makes me curious about some of the one-off oddities like "battle and chase" or "network transmission" which arent in the modern collections EDIT:also command mission)
I didn't even know this was announced until now. This is great news! The Star Force series is such an underrated series, it had a charming cast of characters and the battle system was pretty fun. Will definitely pick this one up.
@Alcea @AmanPikon
Thanks for the confirmation.
There were some people hoping for this so I'm happy for them.
