City officials are ramping up anti-violence efforts ahead of summer through youth jobs and more

Appearing in a Dorchester park Wednesday morning in unseasonably hot weather, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu reiterated her administration’s commitment to reducing gun violence throughout the summer months.

She announced the city’s latest summer safety plan, which includes paid summer jobs for Boston Public Schools students.

Keeping kids occupied will help “ensure Boston continues to be the safest major city in the country,” Wu said during the press conference, which was held at the recently renovated Walsh Playground in Dorchester.
