Honestly, I wish Weber would just spin June off into a separate company. I worked there for 2 years pre-acquisition and 2 years post-acquisition and loved my time there.

I'm still under NDA, so I can't say specifics, but I definitely worked on a ton of cool stuff while I was there. If you have a third-gen oven you've definitely used features I worked on.

Never, I suspect, unfortunately. Honestly if June ever did become independent again I’d jump to work there again.

u/empiricalis was the payout worth it ? not sure how much stock/rsu/options u had. Curious if u made more compared to big tech if u would ahve worked at meta/google?

The payout was enough to cover the down payment on my house and then get solar panels, so by that measure it was definitely worth it. I’m sure I would’ve made more over time if I’d worked at a FAANG company but I wouldn’t have been remotely as happy

yeah, I've already started telling my family I'll never buy a weber since they did a catch and kill on June Ovens. I know I'm just one person, but they showed their true colors and I'll never trust them.

Oh same. Never. June is the best product I own and I’ll be forever sad they killed it. Hope my June lasts until something just as great or better is invented. 🙏

Seems like a strange thing to say without a replacement being available. Or did Weber have some June like alternatives? I know they have a couple electric grill models now, but neither seem anywhere near a June Oven.

That stinks. I love my June oven. If it goes I don't know what I'll do. I use my June oven more than my regular oven.

This is unfortunate. My 2nd gen has died and like others they are offer a 3rd gen for $450, but not sure if I should take this offer given the fate. Unfortunately they are also no great alternatives to purchase from my limited research.

From my research it seems like they aren’t openly selling them anymore, but have retained some stock to offer to existing customers who want/need a new one.

Honestly $450 doesn’t sound like a terrible deal if you had one for years that is out of warranty and it’s broken and you still want a new one. Only question is if you’re still gonna be able to get enough use out of it before that one breaks too…

I just recently took advantage of the deal since we have had two June ovens in operation since the first gen. Yes, both are now 3rd gen. We've had all three generations, and the 3rd gen is definitely the most reliable. Just wish it was easier to clean. We'll use AND REPLACE THEM through Weber until we absolutely can't do it anymore. They really missed the mark on this awesome product.

Here's me two years later with my first gen.... still use it, but I'd definitely be in the market for the 3rd gen since this one is showing issues. We use it nearly every day and am like everyone else - pissed that Weber bought it only for the tech and killed off the June.

The two companies worked together prior to the acquisition. They collaborated on the original Smoke Fire, with June providing the tech.

Weber liked how that went, and acquired them specifically to have them continue working on tech for Weber products.

Good for Weber, I suppose. Bad for us. :(
