I'm going to do a video about this tomorrow but the reality is nothing like Right-Wing YouTubers described. This only affects the UK. It only affects movies and TV shows bought on Playstation Network during a period of time that ended years ago. And of the 551 movies and streaming shows you've probably heard of about 50 of them. There's only five you would actually want to watch and those five are available on multiple other streaming platforms. This is a manufactured grievance spread by Culture War shitheads.

Thank goodness that they only started on a small scale. If it started on a large scale that would have been a problem. I guess I'll wait until it gets to an appropriately large scale before I get mad about it.

Im basically on my second divorce. Everyone takes your shit. Apparently, Im part of the problem.

People like Spawn Wave, MoistCritikal and to a lesser extent Louis Rossman have covered this. The former two still talk about it regularly, albeit to varying degrees. Sure you can go ahead and give your take on whether or not your "favorite" creators are sincere about the issue but to call the issue itself manufactured is a stretch. It's fair to love some or all of the media they're putting out now but this just seems like cutting off your nose to spite the guy in the mirror.

I cannot agree. Because there's the problem with the principle of the matter. How can you be said to buy something if someone else can take it from you? And we have seen streaming services remove huge chunks of content and functionality due to contract changes Netflix still does not work with Google Chromecast on Android. It is perfectly able to as it did for years. Nothing has changed with my device or my television. However, I no longer have this function. Similarly, as he mentioned, this is happening outside of media. Like the famous heated seat subscription Stopping such a trend now before it gets completely out of hand is completely reasonable an idea

looks like i cant reply to my own comment, so: Automakers and some motorcycle brands now sell features like heated seats, remote start, navigation, and advanced driver aids as monthly or yearly subscriptions, even when the hardware is already installed in the vehicle. These subscriptions can cost a few dollars per month to hundreds per year, and some features may stop working if the subscription is canceled.

I look forward to the video. I dont play video games, so im more worried about automakers and motorcycle makers. to assist your research, I'll post what I found as a reply to my own comment
I'm British and I have no idea what's going on here?
I think this is more dependant on your personal feed actually. I see far more negative videos from game centric channels.. Rather than "culture war" ones. The negative content views are an internet staple.. The people running the channels know negativity gets easy views. It's not a "right wing" specific thing.

Maybe for the movies, this is true. But the move towards digital only games is definitely happening. Sure, Steam has been doing it for years. And to their credit, they have not really been guilty of removing stuff willy nilly. So this is the precedent that Sony is standing on. BUT...GOG has both DRM free games AND the freedom to burn your games onto physical disks (with no cost to themselves, which is the main driving reason behind the abandonment of physical media). It is absolutely the one more in tune with the customer. Sadly, they are the only ones doing it.
You might be a bit too caught up in the right wing echo chamber algorithm still. Most normal creators are pointing out that it’s limited, but it’s setting a precedent that needs to be pushed back against everywhere. Really this should be a big issue on the left because it’s corporatism run amok.

I see where you’re coming from, but Sony has been doing shady shit for a while like announcing the next PlayStation and games to be digital only, which screws over everyone except for Sony. Trying to force people to have a Sony account on Helldivers 2, even for none PlayStation players and choosing to work on Marathon instead of Destiny 3. Btw, Spiderman: Brand New Day is a must watch, this is coming from a Tom Holland/Spiderman hater too.
There is a renaissance in cinema going and movies are being better received, some massively popular. They need a ‘next thing’ to whine about, even though it’s old news and now irrelevant. They’re scraping the bottom of the grievance barrel.
