Consider the level of data collection and behavioral surveillance enabled by the SearchGuard Javascript at issue in Google LLC v SerpApi LLC, as described here:
Google LLC may claim that this Javascript is an access control to protect material copyrighted by others
But the court in Google v SerpApi has found that to be false, with the possible exception of "Knowledge Panel" material. The court found that Google LLC is not authorized to protect the returned URLs in a SERP as copyrighted material
If the purpose of this Javascript is not access control for copyright protection then what is its purpose
Can the user control this Javascript. No, it's under the control of Google LLC
Can the user control how the data collected by GoogleLLC via SearchGuard or other Javascripts is used or where it may be sent. No
Many of these tactics, including Real-Time Bidding (see AdGguard blog post), as implemented by adtech companies such as Google, require Javascript
It is reasonable that a user might prefer to avoid running Javascript from adtech companies, such as Google LLC
Some of us have been searching the www since before Javascript existed
Using others' Javascript is a choice the user gets to make. Javascript for web search should be optional. Costs may outweigh benefits. Depends on the user
True. Fable can work independently while Opus almost always needs direction. I guess it comes down to how much input you want during the build process.
I've found that coding types often enjoy creation type hobbies. Think arts and crafts. Wood working, welding, sculpture, machining, 3d printing.
It's got the same kind of "how do I make what is currently nothing much in to something useful and or beautiful" problem solving, so it tickles the same kind of neurons, I suppose.
Would you care to elaborate on why you don't mind individuals stalked by employees with zero oversight or accountability, and why you don't mind protestors being monitored by the government? Since those are both part of "this type of surveillance", and are a pretty fucking crazy thing to state you're okay with with no argument for them. Do you perhaps lack the imagination to consider how this would affect your life if a government that did not agree with your political views came into power sometime in the future and were to use "this type of surveillance" against you?
Or they could bundle a basic driver or police the driver they're curating while allowing people to download and install drivers directly from the vendor website with no policing, no signature checks, etc.
Distributing malware is negligent or malicious, yes. Not stopping users from seeking out their own malware is neither.
it helps when you first start by distilling (full distribution) domain specific workflows from a larger open model (kimi k3 would be perfect for this now, we did glm 5.2) and then apply your own private RL pipeline to the result. we did this to get a private 27B model for English -> SQL and the results were better than Fable, it lost the ability to explain however.
beating frontier models with a tiny fraction of the cost is not difficult to achieve, even when you don't have your own RL pipeline such distillation can still have major savings.
Get a noise machine for wife and kids bedrooms. I talk to friends late at night and my deep voice carries through walls. Works great.
I have zero desire to talk to an ai though, that was cool for about 20 minutes on my pentium 1 acer computer. Hasn’t been since. Old competent non paid Alexa was good for timers as well, the rest of the platforms a turd, nice timers though.
The bra-ket notation makes this all very simple/intuitive for me. With "vectors" I always get confused which is horizontal/vertical, and then I just follow blobs, and get distracted, and leave. With bra-kets the whole thing was very intuitive! I'm now going to covert other articles to the notation as I must have missed a lot of good stuff!
(Side notes: I have physics PhD and mild dyslexia)
The internet's (at least as we knew it) days were numbered as soon as the dot com bubble happened. It changed from a thing to share info to a thing to make money. It's irrecoverably corrupted and this blatant overreach for everyone's PII is just a symptom.
I wonder how many of the people that defend Flock, Google, Facebook " etc, also are the ones that "denounce" Huaweii for spying for the Chinese government.
Technology is not life. It might make your life easier or it might connect you to people or experiences that would be hard to achieve without it. But technology is not the end goal. You past interest have brought you here. That doesn't mean it was "wrong" or that you can't find the passion again. But it seems like you need a break and maybe a new passion for a while
They... didn't? They got a petition response from the EU that was more positive than they had expected, and a response from the commission is not court: the response phrasing literally leaves the door open.
Heck, the parallel movement in the US even had a major legislative victory in California, so... what are we talking about?
Loops are good for streaking. It's hard to get even coverage with a loop, so loops would make it hard to get accurate CFU/ml counts. Loops are more likely to get you single colonies even if you're inoculating from a high density culture, so loops are usually used when picking single colonies is the goal. Sterilized cheap flat toothpicks work pretty well for streaking too.
