I basically only use Apollo for things now, and that decision is what compelled me to leave.
is in capable hands who will continue guiding the subreddit, giving hundreds of thousands of people a good safe space. They don’t need me anymore, but I was glad I could found it and get it off the ground.
I’m going to miss what this website was. I’m not going to miss what it’s turning into.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve been trying to be more visible with my transness. I know that visibility without security is vulnerability, but I’ve taken it upon myself to show the public that trans people are just regular people. Trans people come in every different shape, size, color, habit, intention, belief, and personality. Nearly all of them mean no harm; in fact, most trans people are focused on being so incredibly goddamn perfect that we don’t bring wrath down upon ourselves for existing.
But I’ve been copping to my trans identity more and more often, including joking about it in subtle (and obvious) ways at my shows, in front of crowds of people. I hope that people can see that I’m just people, that we’re all just people.
I’m trying to be less stealth. I don’t think I was ever stealth to begin with, but at least now I own it.

I did this shit for a decade. I built this community from the ground up and formed it into what it is. Over 200,000 people like it enough to be subscribed to it. Don’t like it? Go roll your own.
I’ve taken so much fucking abuse and utter bullshit from people in modmail. I’ve seen people send me pictures of severed dicks when I banned them, I’ve seen people send me postal mail to my own address that says “you banned me on Reddit and this is proof I know where you live,” I’ve had people ring my fucking doorbell with a bat in their hands.
So screw you. We do this for free, and we do this cause this is the community we believe in.
We believe pictures of people’s genitals should be further away from minors than a single click. I can’t fucking believe you oppose that.

The repetition was encouraged. Although the questions don't change from week to week, the answers do. The subreddit operates on iteration and incremental improvement.
No, what burned me out was constantly dealing with creeps and perverts arguing that they should be allowed to show their genitals and talk about sex on the subreddit. What burned me out was dealing with endless fascists in my modmail, looking for any emotional crack in my armor to bust me down with and report me to the admins.
What burned me out was endlessly arguing with random dickweeds in modmail that no, I didn't respect their freedom of speech, because freedom of speech isn't a thing on this internet website, (because "freedom of speech" just means the government can't jail you for speaking out against it) and I can ban whoever I want for any reason, and I usually ban fuckfaces for being fuckfaces.

I’m done.
I just survived a permanent suspension after being incredibly mean to people being creeps in this subreddit. Like, solid modmail vitriol. And well, that’s not good customer service. It’s not how moderators should be.
My suspension was lifted today, even though I only apologized in appeal and never asked for a removal, so while I have Reddit functions, I’m going to resign from here.
It’s been a long decade, I’m burnt out. If I involve myself here, I’ll still be the founder, but not the lead moderator anymore.
And as always, this is an SFW subreddit and any mention of sexual content at all is dealt with.
You all have strong shells and feets for marching. Be good, turtles.

Reason being is that it paints a target on the heads of minors and then those minors get really gross messages.
Instead, we just moderate as though every single person in the subreddit is 14. Since this is an SFW subreddit, devoid of sexual discussion and sexual pleasure, it’s simple: we remove creeps and pedophiles with haste.
