I like how the camera man’s response to falling into this bizarre place is so calm until he sees the graffiti, which in my opinion is the most normal looking part of any of this.
For me, the biggest thing that makes this scary is the fact that when the monster is chasing you, you not only have a fear of it getting to you but you also have a fear of going deeper into this maze, where the silence only gets louder. Truly an amazing film.
i love that they dont over-rely on the entities for scariness. they managed to make the film creepy mostly by the atmosphere. the setting is so realistic, you wonder if they actually did no-clip into the backrooms
god the tension of just walking around with no knowing of what's behind you is almost scarier than the actual monsters and jumpscares. absolute top notch horror
I love how the short film they were filming at the beginning captured the essence of why the back rooms are scary, not knowing what is around the corner, anticipating an unknown horror about to attack
The concept of being lost and encountering a monster, escaping, but then making your way back to a similar looking place except now you know there's something there with you is so terrifying and executed so well.
The more I watch this video, the more hidden details I find. This time, I realized that at the end of the short movie, the camera falls, but not the cameraman.
The depiction and the feeling of anxiety, uncertainty and fear — almost like the strangest fever dream, this is by far the best horror short film of any internet creepy pastas.
The fact that they manage to create a scary movie with just the environment and not overuse jumpscares is amazing, the scary factor isn't just from the monsters, but the eerieness of the place, the fear of the unknown and unnatural architecture
I really like how the monster's sound design was done. It had a perfect combination of an unknown animal, corrupted humanity, and a bizarre, otherworldly machine-like quality to it. It has everything it needs to be terrifying, and creepy, and also to pique your curiosity, as to what it is.
This horror short is so simple yet effective as it combines so many primitive human fears - being alone and lost, the unknown, not being able to escape, being followed/chased
I like how perfectly the cameraman expressed fear. His entire body was filled with adrenaline, running for his life in disbelief that something like this entity exists. He wasn't screaming like in most horror movies
Something also terrifying is when you’re running from the monster in the endless maze, you run the risk of running directly into the monster. That sense of unknown is true fear.
As a former maintenance guy... the horror of having to keep all those fluorescent lights replaced is enough for me!
Still get goosebumps from the buzzing sound, well done!
It's fucking perfect, just that feeling of "something's gonna happen" when the camera goes somewhere and nothing's happening, like the flicking of the light from the top of the stairs. So empty, so uneasy, love it.
I hate how a lot of horror movies nowadays just abuse jumpscares to make something “scary.” Jumpscares can be scary with correct timing and not abusing it, and here’s a great example of how just an environment can be downright terrifying.
Incredible. The "stay still" warning was very clever, adding a new level of stress to the "flight" reaction. This made my heart sink so low it got into the backrooms.
This is generally terrifying. I love how the rooms look so familiar but are so different. Just the “screams” of the creature in complete silence also make this another great horror short film.
the way the monster vaguely sounds like it’s singing while also making those agonizing sounds just makes this so much scarier on top of everything else. this truly is a masterpiece
It freaks me out how the noises it makes aren't so loud, so it feels as though the creature is about 50+ feet away from you, but as soon as you turn around, he's right there... unnerving.
Analog horror that just shows you what’s so horrifying about it. No backstory, no lore, nothing. Just pure terror served on a platter. A very refreshing take on analog horror. Good job this is amazing
As someone who's only heard of the Backrooms on and off, I was under the impression that only people going into office settings like elevators were trapped. Seeing the cameraman be sucked into it during broad daylight is the most horrifying part.
I watched thousands of horror movies that don’t scared me, but this is so terrifying because the most terrible sensation is when you feel lost, hunted, scared and alone
The facts that I'm watching this in 2026 and this is the most biggest trend ever again. I love it! I love all of the details that you made. You did a good job
This short film is literally what a nightmare feels like: unfamiliar, claustrophobic yet lost, and uncanny. Then, added the monster chasing you, deformed and extremely loud, perfection. Amazing work.
The monster design is actually brilliant. It's like the rig or skeleton of something that hasn't fully loaded in yet. Just the movement and the sounds.
I think you captured the dread, anxiety inducing nature of the backrooms perfectly. The drab walls combined with exotic and horrific creatures makes for such a unique horror.
This is why I find the backrooms so fascinating. That pure dread of an empty space, where you don’t know what you’re looking for or where it is… or what might be in there with you, until it finds you.
The 90’s/2000’s aesthetic and the rather “ugly” creature design really sells it. Making the backrooms too pretty eliminates the fear factor, so I’m glad you went with the disturbing angles and camera work. In other words, this is a masterpiece!
The camera movement in the CGI environment is the most realistic I’ve ever seen. Most of the time with the CGI work the camera is just swinging smoothly in a pattern and takes you out of the scene. But you’ve made it appear organic and subtle. Absolutely great work!
The creepy thing about calling for help in the backrooms is, even if someone hears you they will most likely stay away from your voice because they probably think that its actually an entity mimicking a human cry for help. While on the other hand the entities that DID hear your call will approach you
I find the whole thing of the backrooms terrifying, the idea of being trapped alone with things that shouldn't even exist all whilst slowly losing myself to the florescent lighting and somehow you managed to capture it in a single video
I can't wrap my head around how this has been filmed, edited, if there's a set, what's digital, what's real. This is some of the coolest stuff I've seen for a very long time
i think the fact that most of this was made in blender is better than if it was real, real life wouldnt be able to convey how fake everything feels in the backrooms
The fact the camera holder didn't do anything wrong is so much scarier.
He didn't go somewhere he shouldn't have, he didn't break a ritual, sacred site or insult anyone powerful. He just took a few steps back to get a wider shot and fell. No way to counter it or fight back. Just gone.
This was truly the most anxiety inducing short movie ever. Without the need of music and just the use of natural sounds from the neon lights and the sheer quietness of the area was enough to keep me on constant edge. At the end I almost yelped at the sudden appearance of that monster. Heck, that was very well made
As someone who thinks they can handle horror decently well, this was a really good watch and I actually felt genuine fear from it, in comparison to 90% of Hollywood horror movies.
This is genuinely the greatest short film I've ever seen. I am literally not at all scared by horror films but you running from that entity gave me that horrible, spine tingling feeling you get when you can't run away quicker from something
the well done CGI, great textures and camera movement that must've took a PAINFUL amount of animation keying, the audio... it feels so real! As a CG Artist, I respect you a lot.
Finally someone to make a short movie about the backrooms that actually tries to look and be realistic!
Was looking for this for quite long without success.
As a building maintenance guy, this looks like half the old buildings I’ve worked in. It did get kind of eerie working on a vacant floor by yourself. I changed bulbs and ballasts for a solid year, I still hear that 60 hz buzz.
as someone who loves the backrooms and things like "dreamcore" this is absolutely amazing. feels so real and terrifying. the turn of every corner filling you with anxiety until nothing happens. the sound of the creature approaching as you run, seeing it just behind you. it reminds me of "The Ritual" putting the fear back into me.
This was so nerve-racking every step he made, and every noise that I heard gave me the chills. 100% the scariest thing I would never want to experience.
This is one of the most impressive and atmospheric backrooms videos I've watched. More genuinely scary than a lot of big horror films, you feel what the main character feels due to the POV/found footage style. Incredibly organic for CGI, too.
The dialogue in each of these is extremely realistic. One thing about "found footage" horror is that the protagonist is always talking or always giving internal monologue like they're filming a vlog. Either that or they so unrealistically react to each situation with inflated fear or sarcasm, it's sad. But one thing you capture perfectly is how perfectly silent a real person would be in a situation like this, with little to no internal dialogue. Fantastic work.
I genuinely did not know that the environment was CGI until it got to the room with many doorways (at around 4:18). I spent the first few minutes wondering how they found a location that looks so similar as that to film in. It looks really good! Very nice work.
Even if the monsters weren’t present enough in this video, the idea of reality itself giving you the boot and being forced to wander an environment so uncanny and never-ending almost makes my heart skip a beat. That is why I can never get enough of the Backrooms. Liminal horror at its finest.
As a long time horror fanatic I expected this to be a goofy or corny YouTube take on this subject. This caught me off guard tbh. The atmosphere is extremely creepy and unnerving; I actually found myself on the edge of my seat when that monster was chasing him. Good job, I can’t imagine the immense work this took to pull off
I legit got scared of the monster’s noises it makes, it sounds like it’s close then not then close again. This whole found footage concept for The Backrooms is amazing and should be done more.
4 years ago, Kane didn't know, but he had just created something that was beyond his control, what was just a unknown internet creepypasta, become one of the most popular concepts in the history of the internet
This just shows how truly horrifying, isolating, anxious, and how vast the back rooms is and shows how in the backrooms you are almost likely to be truly alone, great film!
That feeling of just being chased through a never ending labyrinth by an unknown creature making a horrendous sound while you have no idea of where you’re going and if you’re just running to a dead end has to be everyone’s greatest fear
This really captures the feeling of being stuck in a nightmare. Those endless loop of doors and hall ways really bring forth a sense of helplessness like we have when we are dreaming. It’s just captured in such a detailed way that it’s literally brought forth a new meaning of terror.
Spot on this incredible piece of footage. I applaud you.
i can't believe im watching this for free, everything is absolutely well made the levels and the horrifying sounds of the monster chasing you down the way the cameraman reacts realistically, i love it
Coming back here because of the movie ! But seriously, this thing is genuis, like all the little entities popping on the camera that you can't notice if you're not paying close attention, and all of this started with an image on 4chan
The only thing I can say about this footage is that even though the rooms look spacious, they actually give me claustrophobic anxiety. I can already imagine myself being lost in an endless loop of empty rooms like this, knowing I'd never find my way out. It's really stress inducing. Great job to the creator! (Actually having a headache now writing this)
Who would've guessed that the 16 year old who made this short film based on a 4chat post would go on to make one of the most popular horror films of 2026 & become one of the youngest directors ever to have a #1 box office movie?
this is totally insane, i haven’t felt this scared feeling in such a long time. He was able to make it seem as if you’re helpless in this situation and all alone. great work!
I have never been made so anxious and uncomfortable watching anything horror related but this set up an unexplainable primal fear that I had to watch this twice to come to terms with it, it was great.
i think what sells this as scary isnt exactly the monster, its the rooms themselves, that unnerving "i dont belong here" fear of exploring that the monster pushes you deeper into. its amazing
I just want to thank you for your work. Your prod on yt are remarquable and The Backrooms movie is really great. I really hope for a sequel as good as the first one. I just went to cinema two times and can’t wait for blu ray release. Just keep the liminal deepness
Just wanted to say, as a die hard fan of both horror and the entire Backrooms concept/genre, this is an incredible achievement. This is the best backrooms related media I have ever seen, and completely blew my expectations out of the water. I loved the design choices, the strange geometry and variation of spaces that I haven’t seen before. The transition from real life to the backrooms not being jarring is a testament to how well rendered everything is, especially the lighting, and with impeccable sound design tying everything together. The progression of events, the perfectly captured atmosphere and very well executed horror had me utterly gripped from beginning to end. This was such a treat to watch, thank you
The last jumpscare was just perfect. Unlike how Hollywood always tease you with a creepy sound and leaves you hanging then only scare you, this is so much better. No sound, straight to the point in all of a sudden. Exceptional
I love that this had not only the Backrooms but plenty of other famous liminal space images. This is a well-made, terrifying love letter to liminal spaces.
This dude is 17 and is gonna make a film on the big screen. Talk about a massive W. Congrats, man. You deserve all the love and recognition coming your way.
If you pause at around 8:29, you can see that Kane actually animated the cameraperson getting grabbed by the creature. That's some serious attention to detail right there!! Kudos to him!
As a person who loves horror and doesn't get phased much by it, this had me on the edge the whole time. Absolutely loved it and keep up the great work!
I just noticed that this was created 3 weeks ago... I thought this was like 4-8 years old, I'm happy the concept of the backrooms is still alive and people want to see more creations like this :D
Christ man. It took me until like 5 minutes in to realise that was 3d animation, the environments and camera movements are so realistic, and the story is so scary as well. This is incredible work dude, I'm astounded.
I cannot emphasize enough how horrifying the the first viewing of this is. The dread of not knowing what’s around every corner… oof. What makes the backrooms so scary is that it’s totally random and you feel for the character because you’re imagining how terrified you’d be if you were in their shoes.
Coming back and watching this after I watched the new film in theaters is surreal. Loved the movie btw, I thought it was really cool and creepy and unique.
Not much horror really "gets to me" but for some reason the idea of being infinitely trapped somewhere, like this, where no matter how far you go or where you go, you're never getting out. Is so SO horrifying to me. Kudos, very well done my friend!
Oh my God I had to re-watch the ending a couple of times to realize that the guy wasn't pushed into the hole, but that the creature caught him and the camera is the only thing that got to escape.
Also I REALLY love how they went out of their way to give context as to why this footage would be recorded, but also as to how it could have been recovered.
Huge props to everyone involved, this was an amazing experience that brought such a simple concept to a whole new level.
I like how quiet he gets really quick, it's more realistic since you probably won't want to give away your position to the entities. Really well done and truly terrifying I loved it!
What made it scarier is the fact the cameramen really didn't make any dumb decisions (other than leaving the ladder behind instead of pulling it up with him just in case he needed to get back) like you would see in a typical horror movie, so it made it feel much more immersive. Which is what you need to get involved to get a good scare. 10/10
This is groundbreaking in indie film making. THIS KID IS ONLY 16! I'm just in awe at the atmosphere of this. Also the camera work looks like genuine handheld camerawork that major motion pictures can't even get right. This might be my favourite horror short of all time.
One thing that I love, at least for me is the fact that the monster, doesn't look scary. The thing that makes it scary for me is how unnatural it looks and that we don't know what it is. This video is pure gold and is one of the first things to truly scare me in a while!
What a captivating short film. If anybody has ever been in a very large office building very late at night or early in the morning when nobody is around, sometimes you get feelings like this. Large spaces, filled with nobody, just you transitioning through them. The place almost starts to lose its meaning, as if the lack of people in it takes away its feeling of purpose.
This was one of the most immersive horor shorts I've ever seen, and captures the entire ambience on what the backrooms would be. The inclusion of different "levels" and familiar areas was nice. Sooooooo cool.
