- Someone lost a Chucky mask at the Denver Zoo and an employee took a pic so the owner could find it. I scraped millions of these from lost and found systems and made a website
- We FOIA’d every San Francisco dog license from the last decade: 82,070 license events, 51,379 dogs, 13,525 names, 412 breeds, 26 neighborhoods. Then we turned it into a data story: The Dogs of San Francisco.
- The NYC app for paying parking tickets had an unauthenticated endpoint that returned a car owner's name, address, and VIN given just a citation ID -- or any license plate that had ever been ticketed. Patched now!Anyone here work in infosec for the NYC government? I found an unauthenticated endpoint exposing names, addresses, and other private info on hundreds of thousands of people. Multiple disclosures filed and they keep closing them, saying it's "not PII." Huh?!
- We did it!my friends and i bought a foreclosed alley in san francisco. it's an actual road that cars drive down! we're letting the entire internet design a mural on it. submit a drawing, vote on them, and the top 1,280 get painted on the pavement permanently ⬇️
