I did some research Brew probably did see, but didn't care to elaborate to their viewers.

The large majority of the harassment happened in March, since at least March 25th. By the time the original post came around, that was April 6th. There is Facebook posts, Instagram posts and Threads posts from around that time period. As well as TikTok results too. Meaning the initial post was part of a wave of attention across social media period.

August the Duck's video released April 7th, and the 2nd post was made before that on April 7th. It took less than 24 hours for the post author to cop to spreading misinformation, delete the initial post, and delete their whole account.

I still don’t get why so much effort is put around the sub. You can’t deny that it atleast participated in the harassment, and that it also spread the info even more. I fully get, that you and the sub isn’t responsible for these harassment by itself, but you can atleast acknowledge, that he got harassed likely incorrectly or on low evidence. There should be more energy put in to make people aware that this kind of behavior isn’t good as society 😅. In the whole video my conclusion wasn’t: this sub is evil, now treat them the same as they did to him.

Now if you did do the quick scroll through the sub you'd see the large majority of posts on this subreddit are explicitly about this kind of behavior not being good in society.

Frankly, suggesting to redirect my energy towards the things I already proveably do, along with the large majority of this subreddit, is just redundant and disrespectful.

Given the amount of threats and geniune harassment that has taken place since this video has dropped... you guys want this subreddit to take responsibility for outside individual's actions? How about Brew viewers take responsibly for everything they're doing first? Even if I know you are not doing anything to me, your fellow audience is doing it too! So you gotta take responsibility, that's the logic you guys are putting out!

I’m not claiming that the entire subreddit is responsible for harassment from l individuals, nor am I saying that nobody here condemns harassment in general. My point is smaller: Brew may have overstated the subs role, but the sub still participated in spreading the allegation, and I think both of those things can be acknowledged at the same time.
I think we may simply be talking past each other.
Saying that Brew’s audience should take responsibility first doesn’t really answer that point. Responsibility is not mutually exclusive.

And btw, I did scroll a bit through it now, obviously couldn’t scan all. But couldn’t find a direct thread about the general topic, mostly in the comments I found this:)

Oh and just to make it clear: no personal attacks or anything against you :) also no hard feelings or anything. I really don’t want to attack you, just show a different viewpoint.

Edit: not the sub directly spread it, but a highly upvoted post on this sub :) to make it clear I’m not accusing the sub or defending brew directly

Also it is kinda interesting, that this seem to spiral in the same misbehavior and brigading that happened in the exif post, not from me and you but the others. So yes the brew users should take a step back and think about their behavior.
