Update on Tencent paying off creators to post fake reviews. In the coming months I’ll be disclosing some serious information that will deeply compromise the careers of many creators and developers that work in the industry. They will be upset with me. They will accuse me of betraying them. They will attempt to brainwash their community into helping them harass and attack me for exposing them for what they’ve done. Before this happens, I’d like to clarify a few important things to everyone. I am loyal to the following things. I am loyal to my family, especially my spouse and children. I am loyal to my country, and the democratically elected officials who govern it. I am loyal to my community, and the people who have supported me throughout my career. I am loyal to all those things, and in that order. If you are not one of those things… I am not loyal to you. If I expose you for violating the laws and regulations that protect the people of our country then I have not “betrayed” you. You betrayed us… and you have betrayed yourself. I will not keep my mouth shut for you. I will not help you cover up crimes. I will not sacrifice the safety or security of my community, family, or country to protect anyone who chose to benefit from their expense. I am not loyal to Tencent. I am not loyal to Electronic Arts. I am not loyal to any other country. I am not loyal to any corporation. I understand that many of you thought no one would find out. I understand that many of you thought you would get away with it. I know the money was too good. I get it. I understand you. I don’t care. If your life is destroyed by the disclosure of information proving crimes were committed… then perhaps your life was supposed to be destroyed. If you came clean before that happened… maybe things won’t be so bad. However, if you continue spending all your energy trying to cover this up and attack people exposing the truth… things will continue to get worse. Your choice. For all my fans who are still following this issue… I’d like to say this. It is all fake. The comments are fake. The reviews are fake. The likes are fake. The views are fake. The player numbers on Steam are fake. The followers on social media are fake. Almost everyone is lying. The reviews that aren’t posted by bots… are posted by creators secretly on payroll. They have nearly perfected the process of buying off every single creator from 500 followers to 5,000,000. All of the creators that are getting paid are too scared to tell you the truth because they need the money… and their channels are dying. If they speak out… they risk getting kicked out of the paid programs they believe that they need to be in, in order to survive. Personally… I think they’re just getting greedy and lazy. They could say no and find a real career that actually benefits society… but they can’t help themselves. They want an easy life. The only reason I’m able to tell you this is because I left the industry. I maintain a career off of Youtube so that way… I don’t need corporate money anymore. I also have better channels that I can now report these violations through. Now, recently the agencies I see committing these crimes… are getting sloppy. Most of them don’t speak english very well… and the english-speaking creators they pay off are getting sloppy too. You can simply search for keywords or phrases… and find who is getting paid off, simply by searching for the scripts they’re paid to use. I believe that nearly all creators who are still dependent on sponsorships and advertising revenue are compromised. They literally get told what to say now, and they have no choice but to say it… because most of them have already signed their life away. You have no idea how bad things have become. Keep digging. I’ll see you soon.

As a videogame longterm player (I start playing games about 30 years ago i am now 47) i have never seen most passionate content creator and videogame developer, who cares about creating games with a child curiosity and passion that so little people have nowadays. Thank you for your dedication and strength to speaking the truth about the monsters in the game industry. If you are aware that your opinion are affected your personal life and the wellbeing of your family please don't hesitate to stop but if , you want to proceed take care of yourself and be strong.

I would love to see tencent actually learn from their mistakes before they get destroyed
I couldn't comment on this from the shorts comment button.
I was at GDC this year. Didn’t go to single one of those obvious AI product talks. GDC is a very diverse crowd and I’m pretty sure those talks are basically just very expensive targeted advertising towards business execs and maybe game devs with fomo.
What does this have to do with the gdc ai announcement? I'm curious.

AI is just another tool you can use. How you use it is what determines your morals. The problem here isn’t with ai tools, it’s with the fake hype and shady marketing practices. I haven’t heard of any law that forbids use of ai for video game development.

Ok, big speech aside, we all knew Tencent was screwed up. It's a typical Chinese company with it's grubby mits in everything.

I remember when 10¢ ruined Eve Online. I think the only other game that can rival the whale potential of Eve Online is Star Citizen, a game I will never play.

You know usually im not a fan of going scorched earthed on people but if it means fucking over the likes of EA and their shitty immoral practices, just this once i will set my morals aside, and glady watch the world burn.

How stupid must one be to get a quick payout to shill the same AI that is being developed to replace them I guess content creators only have a short term vision of success
This is a uniquely American disease. Lazy corrupt officials and greedy arrogant “civilians”. Both suck.
Anyone with even a modicum of success is near always compromised. It keeps regularly getting exposed but everyone forgets it the next day to enjoy wilful ignorance on the next product being sold. We're being sold increasing bang average products while being told their getting better and better. Nearly every product is disposable, unimaginative, mass produced wastes of time. In the world of games it's as bad as anywhere. Once you see it, there's no unseeing. It's depressing seeing where "journalism" has gone, i studied to be one about 10 years ago and the entire landscape was different. The speed at which everything can change is frightening. It used to be that if you're sponsored by a product it would be against journalism ethics to talk about that product or any other product in the same ecosphere. Now it is a requirement. The contract is broken, protecting us is not in the agenda. Now the agenda is to find ways to make them believe they are our friends while getting us to part with money both for them and the corporations sponsoring them. Laws are still in place in at least the UK that a sponsored product cannot be advertised without the consumer knowing the sponsor is in place, which is good, but theyve flipped it to it being a celebration. "Amazing, Congrats on the EA partnership deal!", as soon as someone signs that first deal they've signed off legitimacy and put every other review they've done under scrutiny because they were probably just fishing for contracts. These people are parasites with a smile.
