Canadian filmmaker Jesse Posthumus says LGBTQ representation is continuing to decline in Hollywood, while praising Canada’s film industry for continuing to support “queer stories”.
Speaking while filming the upcoming transgender coming-of-age film Rocket Fuel, Posthumus pointed to recent findings from LGBTQ advocacy group GLAAD, which reported that the number of queer characters in major films has fallen for the third consecutive year:
“Because of hateful political rhetoric, we’ve moved backwards when it comes to supporting and protecting our community,” Posthumus said. “But that doesn’t mean we’ve disappeared.”
The director contrasted the situation in the United States with Canada’s film industry, saying Canada’s public funding system continues to prioritize personal storytelling regardless of whether a subject has become politically controversial:
“We’re fortunate that Canada’s funding system values personal perspectives above all else,” Posthumus said. “These stories aren’t pushed aside simply because they’ve become political issues.”
Posthumus described independent filmmaking as an important way to protect queer youth and showcase positive experiences within the LGBTQ community.
The “hateful political rhetoric” it is referring to is criticism from individuals who know basic human biology, as it is impossible to “transition genders”, and many are tired of the constant agenda pushing in entertainment that describe such people as “stunning and brave”.
This is also compounded by the fact that all forms of entertainment have been pushing this exact message on gender and transgenderism (“anyone can be any gender”) over and over again, to the point that many are also just tired of seeing it all the time, as such entertainment seems to focus exclusively on lecturing people before actually producing an entertaining product.
The fag rainbow cult shouldn’t have even been in hollywood in the first place, but OGs like John Wayne knew the city was afflicted by a deep sickness. Parasites, if you will.
I wonder when these people will understand that LBGTQ doesn’t sell stuff, in fact it’s most likely to make it so that the product loses money.
