Omaneko, the cat-boy mascot of a Japan Air Self-Defense Force sub-base that has repeatedly gone viral online, is officially getting a plastic model kit. The figure recreates the mascot’s distinctive military outfit—including one version complete with his iconic jacket and rifle.
Aoshima Bunka Kyozai has announced that Omaneko, the official mascot of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force’s Omaezaki Air Base, will receive two plastic model kits as part of the company’s furry-focused Kemopla lineup. Both versions are scheduled to launch this December, with pre-orders opening on July 21.
The standard edition includes Omaneko wearing a camouflage apron, while an online-exclusive version adds his signature camouflage jacket, combat boots, and an assault rifle. Staying faithful to the mascot’s original design, the model also retains one of Omaneko’s more unusual characteristics—he isn’t wearing any pants.
Omaneko was created as the official mascot for the JASDF’s Omaezaki sub-base after his design was selected from submissions made by members of the force. Although the character’s feminine appearance often leads to confusion, Omaneko is canonically male. The mascot has become especially popular among Japanese furry fans and on social media, even appearing as a body pillow decal in the Japanese version of War Thunder.
The mascot has also attracted controversy. Some Japanese politicians have criticized the design’s suggestive appearance, arguing that it is inappropriate for an official Self-Defense Force mascot.
The standard plastic model kit will retail for 6,160 yen, while the limited edition will cost 9,460 yen. Both stand approximately 147 mm (5.8 inches) tall, with the online-exclusive version available for pre-order until September 6.

I hope the real Japanese Air Force isn’t this ghey.
That’s supposed to be a boy?
>draw female
>call it male
I mean it’s typical furfag bullshit, but the fact that it’s an official Japanese military mascot is weird as f♥♥k. You’d think they’d want to draw in men that want to protect the country, not feminized soyboys. If it was a catgirl it’d make more sense, but this just doesn’t add up to the demographic. Or, considering this was submitted by an actual JASDF member, maybe it does and Japanese men are really this cucked. Bizarre.
Where the hell have you been since Asfolto debut in Fate?! This is nothing new!
Fate..? Astolfo isn’t the mascot of a Japanese military branch, is the point here, let alone it being furfag trash, and traps have existed loooong before Astolfo. Where the hell have you been?
We can go all the way back to bridget, but he’s a sore spot right now.
How is this trash again, and how is the fact that he’s a military mascot a problem thing again?

If it’s not fun, people aren’t gonna pay attention to the wider movement. As a mascot, he’s doing his job really well, better than most when it comes to staying in the public’s mind. Most just come and go.
Speaking of fun, I think I’m gonna get the complete edition along with some Little Armory weapons. I don’t go out of my way to get otokonoko related merch even if I respect them, but he just sticks out in a fun way. Not every day you see a male character being cute and huggable, and a veteran no less! The military contrast definitely justifies the extra weapons. XD
You have bad taste
