It is possible that once again the party who is most responsible for the current dire collective situation of the Palestinian people, the United States, will once again miss the historic opportunity, which Saudi Arabia is proposing in normalizing relations with Israel - taking concrete steps and an irreversible pathway towards the creation of a Palestinian state alongside Israel. It is that deliberate diplomatic neglect over the decades which escalated the territorial conflict to a point of unforgivable destruction (which is continuing daily in the West Bank and Gaza) and produced a gross death tally unnecessarily. The two-states resolution cannot be placed on the back burner anymore. If the usurp of the Palestinian people from their properties, in grave violation of international law, has been on the conscience of the Muslim world since the time when my parents families immigrated to Israel from Iraq in 1950-51, how can all the stakeholders continue to this neglect?
Better late than never. After over 30 years, thousands of Israeli deaths and myriads of Arab deaths, not to mention huge destructions, we might see a resurgence of the Oslo Agreements. Even if the main spin achieved by Satanyahu will be the spinning in his grave of Benzion Netanyahu, for whom Begin was a leftist unfaithful to his interpretations of Jabotinsky legacy. Rabin the clever visionary would have gotten a better deal, for less, if Satanyahu and his messianic allies had not incited to his murder, and (a modern Cain) inherited the position.
The Palestinian need to be part of the solution.

That doesn't follow from the previous quote from the Saudi foreign minister: "Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan said that for a normalization with Israel, the Saudis needed "a credible and irreversible path" to a Palestinian state. He didn't give details but spoke of a need for a timeline." Everybody knows no Israeli prime minister will ever let the Palestinians have a state. How dumb do you think the Saudis are?
What Saudi considers to be in its best interests is what is likely to prevail. So much hot air has been expelled over many years by countries calling for 2-states why shouldn't that continue. Just because anyone with an iota of intelligence can sense hot air a mile off, and just because the country expelling it knows it's far more about style than substance, it won't stop. What political leverage does the Palestinians have?

Saudi's best interests may lie with accepting Trump's 'sweetener'. Anecdotally .. prominent Israeli peace activist said .. during a group discussion, maybe five or so years ago, that if it benefitted them to do so, the Arab states would sell the Palestinians "down the river". I think it's realistic to agree, regrettably wishful thinking does not always become anything better.
