The ICM is the most important and prestigious conference in the mathematical community, hosted every four years by the IMU. The 2026 congress, running from July 23 to July 30 in Philadelphia, features hundreds of invited talks, panels and presentations on cutting-edge developments across mathematics. The International Mathematical Union grants prizes for mathematical achievement which are awarded every four years at the Opening Ceremony of the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM):Fields Medal - recognizes outstanding mathematical achievement. Abacus Medal - honors distinguished achievements in mathematical aspects of information science. Carl Friedrich Gauss Prize - is awarded for outstanding mathematical contributions that have found significant applications outside of mathematics. Chern Medal Award - is awarded to an individual whose accomplishments warrant the highest level of recognition for outstanding achievements in the field of mathematics.Leelavati Prize - recognizes outstanding public outreach work for mathematics.
