Tom Hanks and Paul McCartney Leave Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s Wedding After The Beatles Star’s Reported Performance

Tom Hanks and Paul McCartney are proving they’ve got a friend in Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce!

The Toy Story 5 star, 69, and the music legend, 84, were spotted in the back of a car leaving the newlyweds’ star-studded ceremony at Madison Square Garden in New York City on Friday, July 3. 

The former Beatles’ attendance at the wedding comes amid reports that he performed with Swift, 36, and Stevie Nicks during the wedding, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Swift praised McCartney in a June 2 reshared Instagram post about his new album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane. The “Style” singer called McCartney an “eternally exceptional artist,” also saying she was “never not inspired” by him.

The comments came days after McCartney compared her global fame to that of The Beatles in an interview with BBC Sounds.

“You do see the parallel, you know the fame and the amount of fame,” McCartney said in the interview posted on Instagram, “The worldwide fame that Taylor Swift has and that we had.”

Swift and Kelce, 36, tied the knot at Madison Square Garden on Friday, Swift’s rep confirmed to PEOPLE. Sources told PEOPLE that the dress code for the couple’s nuptials was black tie.

Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham, Jack Antonoff, Abigail Anderson, Erin Andrews, Jennifer Lopez, Hugh Grant, Tom Brady, Brad Pitt, Steven Spielberg, Ashanti, Nelly, Charissa Thompson, Greg Olsen and Aric Jones were among the stars in attendance.

Prior to Swift and Kelce’s big day, Hanks shared a bit of advice with the couple while speaking with E! News at the Toy Story 5 premiere. The actor is certainly qualified to share guidance, as he’s been married to Rita Wilson for nearly four decades.

“The man must make the waffles on Sunday,” he sweetly shared.

Hanks and Wilson tied the knot in 1988 and share two children, Chester “Chet” Hanks and Truman Theodore Hanks. It is unclear if Wilson, 69, also attended Swift and Kelce’s wedding.

At the premiere of the newest Toy Story film, for which Swift wrote her surprise song, “I Knew it, I Knew You,” the pop star, 36, was seen fangirling over Hanks and Tim Allen, who plays Buzz Lightyear in the franchise.

 The “Life of a Showgirl” singer even brought an authentic VHS tape of the original Toy Story movie from 1995, which she asked the iconic duo to sign. 

Recently, Hanks has been giving Swift’s song high praise, saying in one interview, “It was like hearing Judy Garland sing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” for the first time.” 

Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post shared on Aug. 26, 2025, which included several photos from their enchanting garden proposal. The pictures showed Kelce getting down on one knee and the pair embracing each other after he popped the question.

“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨,” Swift wrote in the caption.

The superstar couple met after Kelce revealed that he tried to give Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it at one of her Eras Tour concerts.

Although he wasn’t able to reach her at the concert, Kelce publicly declared his interest in Swift on his New Heights podcast in July 2023, and they began seeing each other shortly afterward, thanks in part to Taylor’s mom.

“I’m looking at the headlines and perusing around on the internet and I see that this guy came to your show and he brought a friendship bracelet and wants to meet you,” Andrea Swift recalled during episode four of Taylor Swift: The End of an Era. “So I call up my resident expert on the Kansas City Chiefs, my cousin Robin, and I go, ‘Tell me about this guy named Travis Kelce.’ ” 

At the MTV Video Music Awards in September 2024, Swift gave a special shout-out to Kelce in her acceptance speech, saying, “Everything this man touches turns to happiness and fun and magic. So, I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot because I’ll always remember that.”

In a November 2023 interview for the cover of WSJ. Magazine, Kelce opened up about his relationship with the singer-songwriter, saying that dating Swift was a whole new ballgame, as he’s “never dated anyone with that kind of aura about them.”

“But at the same time, I’m not running away from any of it ... The scrutiny she gets, how much she has a magnifying glass on her, every single day, paparazzi outside her house, outside every restaurant she goes to, after every flight she gets off, and she’s just living, enjoying life,” he said. “When she acts like that, I better not be the one acting all strange.”

In preparation for their wedding festivities earlier this summer, Travis was seen around California with his rumored bachelor party. On June 17, the groom-to-be enjoyed a night out in West Hollywood alongside his older brother, Jason Kelce, 38, former Kansas City Chiefs teammate Ross Travis, 33, and comedian Druski, 31. The group of men hit up The Bird Streets Club, an exclusive private members-only restaurant and social club on the Sunset Strip.

Meanwhile, Swift appeared to spend a girls’ weekend in Rhode Island, where her longtime friend Abigail Anderson and several other friends were spotted at Swift’s Watch Hill mansion, per TMZ.
