OpenAI and Anthropic executives are sounding the alarm about the rise of cheap AI, particularly powerful new models produced in China, suggesting they will lead to a “dystopian” AI future and present unacceptable security risks without regulation.
- Yeah, free markets until somebody comes in and challenges you, right? But, but China!!! Most people still don't understand that the chinese models are open source and can be tweaked & run on US servers at low cost, which obviously is great for US businesses.
- You mean billionaire, feudal tech-oligarchs aren't happy about China's open-source, low-cost AI models? No? You don't say...
- Open-source doesn't mean you have to rely on Chinese vendors. You can deploy and run on your own US servers!!!! So stop saying China threat. Open-source models benefits all.
