Hello everyone,

Today, we want to share an important update regarding OnePlus in the United States and Canada, and the future of this Community. Before anything else, we want to start with a sincere thank you.

For years, this Community has been a place where OnePlus users came together to share ideas, provide feedback, help fellow members, celebrate new launches, and contribute to the growth of the brand. From detailed product discussions and bug reports to photography showcases and Community campaigns, this space has been shaped by the passion and dedication of its members.

Whether you've been with us since the early days or joined more recently, your contributions have helped define what the OnePlus Community stands for. Thank you for your support, your feedback, your creativity, and your belief in OnePlus over the years.

A change in Direction

As part of the proactive global strategy adjustment, OnePlus has decided to conclude new product rollouts in North America. We know so many of you in the Community have backed OnePlus for years, and this news is going to be disappointing. This was by no means an easy call to make, and we wanted to come forward and be completely honest with the friends who have stood by us for so long.

Our Commitment to Existing Customers

While future product launches in North America will conclude, our commitment to existing OnePlus customers remains. Existing OnePlus devices will continue to receive scheduled software updates and security patches. Our customer service channels will remain open, and support will continue in accordance with our warranty and support obligations. Your rights under applicable consumer protection laws in the United States and Canada are unaffected by this announcement.

Software Roadmap

As part of an operational adjustment to our software strategy, following the official release of ColorOS 17, users with existing OnePlus devices that fall within the eligible upgrade scope will have the option to voluntarily update to the latest ColorOS. This enables us to streamline software development, accelerate update delivery, and make better use of our shared engineering and R&D capabilities

Community Closure

As part of this transition, the communityus.oneplus.com webiste and app will officially close on August 16, 2026 at 11:59PM ET.

The Community will remain accessible until that, allowing members time to revisit discussions, save content, and stay connected with the conversations that matter most to them. We know that many members have spent years creating valuable content within this Community. From product reviews and feedback threads to photography posts, tutorials, guides, and discussions, the contributions made by this community have helped countless users and played an important role in shaping the OnePlus experience.

If you would like to keep copies of your content, we encourage you to manually save it before August 16, 2026. Following the closure of the platform on August 16, 2026, Community content will no longer be publicly accessible. Members who wish to retain their posts, comments, photos, or other contributions should download or save them manually before the closure date.

We understand that many of you have invested significant time and effort into building this Community, and we sincerely appreciate those contributions. Personal information associated with the Community will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Stay Connected

One thing we've learned over the years is that this Community has always been about more than products. While the North America Community is closing, we know the relationships built here don't have to end.

To help keep our community connected, we're launching a new Discord server for the entire OnePlus Community. It will be open to Community members worldwide, providing a place to continue conversations, share interests, and stay in touch with fellow members and familiar faces from the Community team.

We'll share the invitation link and more details in the coming days. Stay tuned.

Please note that this Discord server is intended as a community gathering space and should not be considered an official OnePlus support channel.

Thank You

To everyone who posted, commented, reported bugs, shared photos, answered questions, or simply spent time here with us: Thank you.

Thank you for helping build one of the most passionate technology communities we could have hoped for. It has been a privilege to have you as part of this journey.

These devices have been Oppos, not only hardware-wise for a few years already. These news <2020 would've been devastating.

OnePlus in the United States and Canada,

YRJ

Goodbyes are always the hardest.

Every time I would see a post that mentioned North America and everybody would assume it's just the United States I would say well where's Canada and in this one you've included Canada which I like but it's so sad at the same time.

So fortunate to have been part of the OnePlus story in words and photos.

My life has been positively influenced by this journey and the people I have met.

So nice to see many OnePlus community humans bringing their joy and passion for not only photography but life itself as they explore the OPPO Global Community.

So this is not goodbye but see you in the future in this life and the next.

Hopefully, they will bring Oppo phones to the states, or let us buy Oppo devices from an official NA site

That would have been announced alongside this if it was going to happen, in order to not lose the initial flood of current customers that now need to look elsewhere.

It is not happening unfortunately.

So who tf am I supposed to switch to now?? Overpriced Samsung?? Overpriced and locked down Apple?? Underwhelming Moto??

This is stupid. Oppo doesn't operate in the US so they're not even an option! Whoever is in charge over there is an idiot!! Please go to h3ll.

Hopefully in three or four years when they stop rolling out updates for the 15 Samsung will have a good option That's actually mostly caught up to the rest of the world. Probably not but maybe

I don't even want the 15. It's trash. The 13 is better tbh. The 15 is an example of why OnePlus is going out of business Nothing about it is special. The Fold and the 13 were special.

I've got the 8t, 12, 13, and 15. I really don't get why everybody thinks the 13 is better. The only thing better on the 13 is the physical size of the image sensor. But it's still doesn't produce photos as good as the 15. And the 15 is better in every other category. Maybe it was the slider switch? I don't know, but 15 has the same exact function, just requires an extra button tap and a press on the screen. I quickly decided I like it better than a slider that I was previously used to. Doesn't matter anyway. *Shrug. Just frustrates me because they made a damn good phone, and everybody thought it was a downgrade for no reasonably logical reason, it beats the Samsung s26 ultra at almost everything for about half the cost. *Shrug.

Unfortunately, OnePlus/OPPO caused this by A, not listening to its customers B, not maintaining carrier relations, C, investing money into silly partnerships instead of investing money into things users care about such as timely/bug free updates or high end hardware for a price that undercuts the competition like what originally made OnePlus popular to begin with. Sad to see OnePlus go but it just goes to show you, people in high up corporate positions can easily derail a company and drive it head first into the ground.

I would say the consolidation of resources to focus only on India was the beginning of the downfall

I agree. Whoever has been running OnePlus is an idiot. Once they started getting rid of the Alert Slider it was downhill from there.

unfortunately, was too hard to convince moms and dads the Samsung and iPhone they are using are counterproductive with their technical skills and lack of time for photography use while one plus offered multi tasking dream out of the box with lucrative lens cooperations. Live long friends from OP. In my opinion it sucks that it was already planned and non American brands wanted to buy you off or maybe it's your Chinese pride? anyways bring up the trade in bonus and discount so I can get the 15 for my Grail 13r before it's too late!

Thank you to Carl Pei for making OnePlus what we all knew and loved; unfortunately, CCP-BBK brass had other plans. And of course a special shout-out to Pete Lau and all his "yes men." What an embarrassment the past 6 years have been.

OnePlus was dead in NA as soon as the community was split off.

Sad NA is once again getting shafted when it comes to Android brands to choose from. Oh well.

Thank you OnePlus - when the community actually meant something to you guys, this place was awesome. I've traveled with OnePlus, I've reviewed and tested with OnePlus and I've met awesome people throughout my time here. Nothing more to say but thank you and good luck with whatever the hell you guys are going to be doing to stay afloat.

my Community content

YRJ

I sincerely hope that OnePlus archives community content. It is part of a historical record that in my humble opinion shows that communities such as this one bring people together from every nation around the globe. It makes us all feel as 1 singular human race with common goals and aspirations. 1+ OnePlus more than just a brand.

The OnePlus Team and community members should be proud of this incredible achievement.

Congratulations all.

Wow.

Honestly, i was really hoping to see much more from OnePlus in the US/CA.

It was interesting getting my first 1+ phone (10 Pro) back in late 2022.

At first i was a bit skeptical, i was looking towards something different beyond a Samsung or iPhone. (Coming from an LG at the time)

At first it was a decent experience, clean and lite Android skin, while many have expressed their frustrations on where the company was going, i was intrigued to find this new company that i've never heard of.

After maybe 1 1/2 years in, it had started to get interesting with the introduction of the Pad, then the watches, newer accessories, the 12 was their best as well as the Open. Aswell as all the community events that happened throughout the following years.

It was nice to see how things were going, looking to see if they'll being their Nord (not the N models they brought to the US) and if my own mother can get one for a budget.

But unfortunately that didn't seem to be the case, and then the community split a while back, now finally this.(i was wondering why Spencer hadn't posted in a while)

Anyway, seems like somethings can't all last forever, i hope to see how Oppo will handle ColorOS in the NA area (they are familiar with Mexico already, so maybe about the same)

[Here is also one my first few photos i took with my 10 Pro back then, good memories..]
