When did the "activist" game developer mindset start?
Most strange phenomena can be pinned down to a single date or title, such as the first game to feature a turrent section, or the first game to feature quick-time events (I'm glad those two features are gone). So, what was the first game where the developers had a "activist" mindset, where they didn't care about their customers at all and actively fought against them brazenly. When did this terrible, narcissistic mindset start, and what's the first game to be plagued by it?

I can pinpoint such a mindset with movies, with Ghostbusters 2016. That was the first movie I saw where the director, the actors, and even the studio funding it actively went against the customers and fought against them so openly. It was pretty weird, which made it satisfying when the movie flopped and it sequel was cancelled.

But what about games? What was the first game to be plagued with the "activist" mindset that ruined it?

These days the terms have become one and the same.. The minorities co-opted it.

Close but I'd rephrase that to it's just normal people vs the left-wing. The modern left are very united in their hatred of White people, desire to champion progressive values, and intentions on destroying the west. Anyone who's even slightly close to what you would consider an "old school liberal" abandoned the left when they started using authoritarianism to oppress others and censor ideas. That's why the dissident sphere is filled with so many former liberals, centrists, and libertarian types.
I used to be left leaning.. Now i prefer the right because they seem less crazed. and have similar views i do. Are they perfect no.. but they are the safer for a sane future..

Being alright with non-white characters in games is not the same as hating white people. The "hate against white people" is something that exists only in your head and you have nothing to show to convince me otherwise.
Two seconds on Tiktok and instagram would prove you wrong on that.. there is so much white hate there its getting dangerous.
tiktok and instagram users are either sociopaths, kids, or college age women who post selfies and ask "iZ My BOyfrIEnD ChEAtiNG oN Me?" like they never grew out of highschool
if you think social media is a good representative of society in general, you've never left your house

are you... shocked that "art" attempted to convey a message that didn't confirm to your bias?

Regional Parliament in this case.

Guy had an interesting political career. Also an interesting political career which would make me take any statement from him with a grain of salt. Least we end up in a fallacy of authority.
I see the discussion has entered the "art must be divorced from the artist" puritan pov. Sure, people have the right to embargo art or consumer products based on whatever, but it's a tough ask to appreciate an artform in a vacuum outside historical context or the artist's predelictions.

Take H.P. Lovecraft for example. I would argue that his horror stories would lose a lot of their flavor without his being a notorious racist or xenophobe.

Do I agree with his personal views? No. Can I still enjoy his works with the full understanding of his background? Yes.

There are SOME things ON Instagram that are worth looking at, namely only information videos about what is going on in the world, but what you just pointed out is, pretty much an ongoing problem with ALL of social media.

And it don't help on those platforms, you have HONEYPOTS, that brainwash weak willed men into nothing more than SIMPS that send these women money...

They can all still vote and are considered adults.. Kids are blocked from social media.

A lot of Australian Government fits that box. Our system here is just as broken as the USA. Also with your Government i wouldn't throw too many stones in your glass houses..

Anita Sarkessian? You guys forget already? She was the catalyst and the biggest voice in 2012 for the changing of games

"Tropes vs. Women in Video Games" circa 2012&2013-2017

If you want the first company she worked with its Bungie.

She still actively works with many game devs most recent being Bethesda
its the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up time we live in you wont find a grocery store owner who isnt an activist for either left or right xD

Her and Quinn both were absolutely dreadful to gaming as a whole. I am just thankful that studios are realizing the "modern audience" doesn't exist at a large enough scale to keep their AAA studios afloat.
