When did the "activist" game developer mindset start?
Most strange phenomena can be pinned down to a single date or title, such as the first game to feature a turrent section, or the first game to feature quick-time events (I'm glad those two features are gone). So, what was the first game where the developers had a "activist" mindset, where they didn't care about their customers at all and actively fought against them brazenly. When did this terrible, narcissistic mindset start, and what's the first game to be plagued by it?

I can pinpoint such a mindset with movies, with Ghostbusters 2016. That was the first movie I saw where the director, the actors, and even the studio funding it actively went against the customers and fought against them so openly. It was pretty weird, which made it satisfying when the movie flopped and it sequel was cancelled.

But what about games? What was the first game to be plagued with the "activist" mindset that ruined it?

To expand on that, lets say I am anti playing as women in games and I'm a Sony gamer. Well over the last 6 years I've watched Uncharted 4 turn into a game which will likely have any sequel starring a female. I've watched Last of Us two have me play as two ladies, after killing off the male character which was widely loved in the first hour of the second game. I've watched Sony go all in on Horizon, starring a woman. I've watched as Ghost of go from a man to a woman. I've seen Ratchet and Clank make Ratchet a side character to Rivet. I've watched as Naughty Dog's next game after almost a decade star a bald woman. Now God of War replaces Kratos with a woman. At this point I'm honestly struggling to find a new Sony game that features a man. Oh Saros.. Thus one out of 7 games stars a man. slow clap.

Thus now as this hypothetical gamer who is anti playing as women in games and is also a massive Sony fan. I live in a world where I'm told gaming is supposed to be all inclusive. We need characters that represnt everyone as for decades people of colour, women, disabled people, etc have been under represented! I now see controllers for people who don't have all their limbs being made so they can be gamers as well! However, now I'm being under represented and when I bring up how the no gamer left behind movement left me behind, I'm called an ist, a phobe, everything but a child of God. I'm told the thing that is happening is not happening, its all in my head.

So what is the solution? Just not be a modern gamer? Buy something else? Create my own game? All extreme options, but okay. So why exactly couldn't everyone else who was complaining about alienation before the movement have done the same?

Funny how that works.

Always remember. Just because a game doesn't appeal to ytou. doesn't mean it won't appeal to someone who is not you. People keep forgetting that.

This was well understood back in the 80's and 80's even the early 00's . BUt then youtuibers discovered that rage clicks get them a lot iof money

Ah, this old canard. All those rage-baiting millionaires creating discontent out of nothing... As if The Agenda wasn't sufficiently and proudly documented by the propagaters themselves. It all exists in official DEI statements and media releases for everyone who cares to relax their clenched-knuckle stance of categorical denial for a brief moment.

The idea that a game doesn't have to appeal to "everyone" was indeed understood in the not too distant past. Unfortunately, it was pretty much rejected as backward by the brave new generation of the industrial regime. The current thinking is that the way to recoup extravagant development costs is to firmly establish a lowest common denominator, i.e. the hegemonic ideological position that nobody can afford to be seen as not supportive of. And then you just work with media allies to establish those costs (such as social exclusion of "toxic incels") on the consumer. That's your inclusive formula right there. All games are for "everyone", everyone who deserves to be acknowledged as human that is.

Being alright with non-white characters in games is not the same as hating white people. The "hate against white people" is something that exists only in your head and you have nothing to show to convince me otherwise.

No matter what proof someone shows you, it would be a waste of time for them. You made a definitive statement on your point of view and you're not going to come off of it. People who have an open mind say things like, " I do not believe". You made a defenitive " It only exists in your head" with like the confidence that the sky is blue.

Social media posts are not a proof. Even before AI, bots existed. Maybe my phrasing wasn't the best. Here on the Steam forums though, the only thing I've seen is people who are afraid of privilege loss trying to frame that as "being hated".

fallout is anti-everything
because the world blew up
actually i guess that would mean its anti-human since thats what really caused it

... depending on which Fallout you take. 1, 2 and New Vegas draw a rather detailed picture of post-apocalyptic societies where human interaction and humanity is the key. The "spinoff" London got quite some of it as well.

How can you tell? I mean, any of it? The "privilege", the "loss", the "fear", the "framing"?

And you talk a lot about proof.

I'm mostly talking about lack of proof. Here on these forums, I haven't seen spiteful posts against white people, nor against straight people. And the "loss of privilege" are the bans handed out to people who drop the ball and get a little too openly hostile. And that hostility tends to be mostly aimed at non-white and non-straight people. Same goes for video games. The same users accuse video games of "pro-LGBT" agenda and they treat inclusion of non-white characters as a personal attack against them.

Oh, so you can diagnose the socio-historically rooted defensive psychopathology of anonymous strangers based on frustrated outbursts on a moderated forum where deliberate provocation is not exactly unknown? That's certainly a talent.

I personally wouldn't go as far as say that any such hostility "tends to be mostly aimed at non-white and non-straight people", but rather that the "non-white" and "non-straight" are used as props in jockeying for authority on the part of their supposed champions. It's a sad state of affairs, but once such categories get deployed, there is no easy way to go back. Thus such inclusiveness can easily be perceived as some kind of a dare or a challenge for anyone to assert their displeasure at being constantly served what is all too often nakedly patronizing sermonizing about the glories of "diversity", even if it in some rare cases was not intended as such. And it may be difficult for many to phrase the exact nature of their objection in a mode of global discourse that must be foreign for most.
Based on the one film example the OP used, the rotten tomatoes scores paint a very different picture.

80's Ghostbusters - 95%
Ghostbusters II 57%
2011 Ghostbusters 74%
Ghostbusters Afterlife 63%
Ghostbusters Frozen Empire 41%

Clearly activists shouldn't like the original film, but that has the highest score only above the all female remake. so I'm going to say these 'activists' the OP believes exist are not the problem.
