When did the "activist" game developer mindset start?
Most strange phenomena can be pinned down to a single date or title, such as the first game to feature a turrent section, or the first game to feature quick-time events (I'm glad those two features are gone). So, what was the first game where the developers had a "activist" mindset, where they didn't care about their customers at all and actively fought against them brazenly. When did this terrible, narcissistic mindset start, and what's the first game to be plagued by it?

I can pinpoint such a mindset with movies, with Ghostbusters 2016. That was the first movie I saw where the director, the actors, and even the studio funding it actively went against the customers and fought against them so openly. It was pretty weird, which made it satisfying when the movie flopped and it sequel was cancelled.

But what about games? What was the first game to be plagued with the "activist" mindset that ruined it?

This is true. It's more of "people who just want games to be fun escapism" vs "people who want to shoehorn their political social message in everything"

The firings aren't the games industry healing itself. The firings are a symptom of the problem that has never quite gone away and in fact have been a problem/series of problems that I've been speaking out against since 2005.

The industry isn't going to "heal". It's going to be run into the ground and every executive is going to float off with their golden parachute into a new company with an even higher position, while every ground floor dev that was basically forced to either kowtow to their whims or be fired earlier is going to lose their job.
The list does exist yes its all accurate but that liberal woman is just as much a problem as any other in your list because of her beliefs and how many of them have been let in.. They don't make games for standard gamers they make games for LGBT and liberal women.. those two groups don't buy games on the level straight men do.. and they are why games stopped selling..

If a game is good all those things on your list will still sell a game.. If its activism it wont sell anything.

Posting this from another topic as it's my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ post. If I don't like it, I can sue myself.

Normal is wanting something you enjoy to succeed. Normal is leaving what you don't like alone. Normal is accepting that there are other people in the world with other stories to tell and other perspectives and that they are no less valid for it.

Normal is showing people that aren't like you a modicum of respect and accepting the fact that they have a right to exist as something other than a target or a servant class.

That is normal.

As if

Corporate greed
The infinite pursuit of infinitely growing profits
Loot boxes
Cut content resold
Pay to win
Live services
Mandatory Online checkins for single player games
Over monetization of games(Looking at you Paradox and Dovetail)
Crunch Culture
Gaming being priced out of being anything other than a niche rich man's hobby
The insistence on targeting what are known as Whales and Krakens
Content being shipped with the game, but you have to buy access to it
Lack of QA Testing
Ship it now, maybe fix it if we're feeling nice mentality
Other launchers being required for games to run
Risk aversion leading to sequel after sequel rather than new IP
Oversaturation of genres(Roguelike, Zombie, Battle Royale, and Soulslike)
The push towards a streaming only future where you still pay full price for the games
Yearly sequels to series that are basically the previous year's game with minor alterations

all somehow don't exist.
So you do agree DEI is one of the problems :BL3Thumbsup:

If that's your takeaway to something that's obviously sarcastic, you're welcome to do so. It's no skin off my back

Shame game developers and media don't follow those rules.

That explains why anti-woke games haven't been selling, activist.

Resident Evil 0 is a game that literally traumatized me when I was 14, I still have nightmares about that game and its genre 23 years later.

I want you to check how many of my posts are in the Resident Evil 0 forum. Hell, I own a copy of the game just so that I can finally move on from this long, seemly endless chapter of my life that has lasted longer than you crusaders have ever had a thought in your head about being mad at games.

Why would you buy a game that mentally disturbed you.. :BL3Shrug: Not sure what this has to do with the topic though.

You shouldn't have been playing that game at 14.
Guess what, Yoda. I hate the series. I think it should've never been made because now basically anything that wants to try to be a horror game has to follow in it's footsteps. I never once rooted for Resident Evil Requiem's failure.

When it ended up being a success and I found out more about it, my only question is, "Why are people returning to Racoon city".

And I have more reason to do so than you little activists do about the games you hate. Mine actually had an impact on my life that has lasted 23 years. Yours is just whenever people tell you to get mad.

That's what normal looks like.

I'm just confused how this connects to the thread?

It doesn't. It is a non-sequitur fallacy.

He does that a lot I think he just gets something he wants to discuss and rams it in; I think he'd probably get some good engagement making his own threads cuz I kinda want to talk about the Resident Evil franchise with him but I don't want to derail the thread.

So you do agree DEI is one of the problems :BL3Thumbsup:

They were being sarcastic. "DEI" is not a problem. Games are more diverse in genre and type than ever and include all kinds of assets and characters. But there was never equity in them. Not in the industry at least, it's still a very ruthless competition for players, even if there's no publisher breathing down your neck and telling you what to do.

False.

Really? How many genres and types disappeared VS how many genres and types appeared?
