Improving Passkey (FIDO2) support on Android with the YubiKey Passkey Enabler app
Android recently gained support for passkeys over NFC, but the feature is not yet available to all users and some related FIDO2 capabilities are still missing. To address these gaps, Yubico has introduced the YubiKey Passkey Enabler app, extending compatibility to more devices and adding features that improve both user experience and enterprise deployment.

Background and Scope
Google recently expanded Android’s support for security keys by introducing passkey (FIDO2) authentication over NFC. While this represented a significant step forward, the implementation depends on Google Play Services and does not yet expose all capabilities of the current FIDO2 specifications.
To broaden coverage, Yubico has now introduced the YubiKey Passkey Enabler app. Delivered as an Android credential provider, the app enables additional FIDO2 capabilities and extends support to a wider range of devices.
