The farce of Turtle McConnell being alive will continue until August 4. It is my opinion, that at that point, when it’s too late to hold a special election, the Republicans will then say McConnell’s pneumonia got worse and he died on the DATE OF August 5th.

Core argument: at least one "dead" console (i.e. no longer officially supported by their primary manufacturer) will have been given new life by a wave of indie development centered on that console, as a way of bringing back old-school gaming and physical media and capitalizing on how many old consoles there still are that still work at least somewhat

I've considered this for probably a decade now, but there seems to be enough interest lately that some people want to RETVRN TO TRADITION...al gaming, and yet we have all these consoles right there, ready to develop for.

Homebrews have been a thing for a long time, but they've never really been a big enough phenomenon to revive old consoles. The closest I can think of was when there was something like a dozen new Dreamcast games coming out in 2007 (IIRC). That was neat, but also pre-retro gaming revival, so it flew under the radar except as a quirky joke. Whereas if that happened nowadays, I don't doubt it'd get a lot of press.

Edit: I'm also aware of a pretty steady release of homebrews for the Atari 2600, and I mentioned Brazil and their relationship with the Master System/Genesis down below

Console gaming tradition has long been that once a new console releases, old consoles are no longer viable platforms. Even though there were 155 million+ PS2s sold by 2013, it was seen as a complete faux pas to make a new PS2 game any year after 2006, to the point it's still seen as a joke. "This is a Nintendo 64 game that released in 2004." To a certain generation, you just immediately start laughing on hearing that. But I wonder if, to a younger generation, there'll be a point where that's not at all odd. In fact some young'uns might even start wondering why we thought it was normal to just totally discard an old console just because a later one came out (especially for consoles that lacked backwards compatibility). That sort of technological progression may have been important context at the time, but looking back, it does seem a bit silly.

After all, we've cycled through "2D gaming is obsolete, only 3D games are good" to "low poly 3D is terrible, high-definition 3D is for Real Men™" to "Anything brightly colored is gay, real games use realistic brown and gray and feel miserable and misanthropic" and then "Actually 2D pixel art was great and early 3D is ugly and outdated" and now "Actually low poly 3D was great too"

I've seen plenty of people note that we got 3 GTAs on the PS2 and subsequently 1 GTA across 3 PlayStations, often exalting the atmosphere of those PS2-era GTA games. And I'm just here wondering "Why not get a team together to make a new PS2-style GTA game? Heck, even release a version for the PS2"

Would that be profitable? Hard to say. It's always a crapshoot involving video games.

But, it can't be anywhere near as unprofitable as HD game development.

By 2030 at least, I do think those crazy Zoomers will start busting out homebrew development kits and getting together to make games for "dead" consoles on a scale large enough that it could be said that some of them like the SNES, PS1, OGXbox, GameBoy and Advance and DSes, even rare ones like the 3DO and whatnot are at least semi-"active" and supported again.

(Pure showerthought: imagine if Sega came out of retirement to offer official support for a new wave of Dreamcast homebrews, even if not actually manufacturing new hardware)

A "global ban" is a ban from editing all Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) wikis declared by staff members, which can not be reversed by the volunteer administrators or by community vote. As with the ballroom, they’ll destroy the current columns quickly and without asking, and then say, hey, you have to let us build new ones, we can’t leave it like that. (Either that or just replace them completely and then unveil them by taking down the screen.) They’ll argue that the WH columns should match the ballroom. One of his lackeys already proposed changing the WH columns earlier this year. Trump is determined to leave his mark on everything in DC. We’ll find out soon enough.

Evidence: so with the US Iran war going hot again, it is assumed that the oil and other vital materials going through the Strait of Hormuz will be disrupted again. It's already been said that the delayed impact of the Strait being closed in the first place would take several months to fully be felt here. Much as was the case with the oil embargo in the 1970's. By rough calculating, that puts it around the holidays here. And so, with that, I would imagine that Thanksgiving dinners are going to be very lean for a lot of families, compared to before. And the same goes for Christmas dinners, as well as a lot of parents having to awkwardly try to explain to their little kids, why Santa's toy bag is running rather lite this year.

McConnell's animosity towards the current administration. Remember Senate Republicans tried to pass the SAVE act as part of a reconciliation package back in June, but Mitch and three other Republicans voted against it. Minus Mitch, the other three Republicans who voted against it are still there, and nothing indicates that they're changing their vote on the matter. If McConnell's staff do finally admit he's gone, then that would lead to absolute chaos in the Kentucky Republican Party.

The fact that a Trump loyalist is already running for that seat and will most likely win, makes this a win-win for state and fed-level Republicans if McConnell is out of commission but not removed.

If somehow McConnell can show proof of life and no one announces his resignation until Sept or even better until January, then no special election can be held on Nov. 3rd because the deadline to add it to the ballot was missed, and it would have to be scheduled after the General election, which is a nightmare scenario for both, mostly the GOP due to low voter turnout tend to swing thing towards the democrats

If McConnell dies or resigns before that Sept. 8 deadline, then a special election will have to be held for Nov. 3 alongside the general election.

I'm convinced that neither the Kentucky Republican Party nor the Governor is interested in doing any of that when a general election is already underway, especially since they will more than likely just nominate Barr and Booker anyways.

Gov Beshear doesn't want a special election because it opens that seat up to being held by a Republican more loyal to MAGA than McConnell sooner than January, with two months' worth of voting in the Senate at risk; The Republicans in Kentucky and McConnell's staff are thinking the same thing; with added caveat of not knowing how Kentucky voters will respond to McConnell's death and now having to vote twice for the same seat on the same day or a month later if McConnell last longer. That's a lot of money to consider.

Keep in mind there is a higher than 0% chance that one candiate win the general election and get sworn in in January but loses the special election for the vacant seat. I can see both parties being uncomfortable with that possibility especially in our current political climate. Whoever win the special election if it is held in November will be giving their party a voting senator for almost two months.

Both parties are probably concerned with the solely focusing on the general election and won't release anything in regard to McConnell until they're sure their guy can win both.

I honestly think Trump's ultimate exit strategy is just going to be faking his own death. He would rather have the entire world think he died a martyr than ever face his empire collapsing or actually sitting in a prison cell.

When you look at everything happening lately, it feels like he's already setting up the excuse. He keeps talking about how Iran is trying to assassinate him. It creates a perfect storyline. If he suddenly "dies" under weird circumstances, everyone will just blame a foreign enemy and his followers won't question the details. Between his age, his declining health, his obvious cognitive slip-ups, and the assassination attempts he's already had, the general public would completely buy it if a sudden tragedy happened.

The main evidence for this prediction is how the law is catching up to him, alongside how aggressively he is using fraudulent methods to funnel wealth to his family while he still has power. He's securing the bag for his kids right now so the money is locked away before he disappears. Faking his death instantly freezes and kills all those personal criminal prosecutions, letting him live out his life in secret on some private estate or a country that won't extradite him. If it comes down to guaranteed jail or losing everything, what other choice does a guy like him have left?
