"Replaces their resume". So, takes away their ability to sell themselves and gives all that power to strangers they work with. Insane.

He spent all of that time, energy, and money thinking of a way to make employees feel more "appreciated" and not once did he consider giving them raises or benefits.

Employers are legally restricted from speaking poorly about you if you leave/quit. I sense a lawsuit is going to happen.
332
Oh look, it's a tech company creating a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Never seen that before.
3.8K
No employee wants this, this is 100% for employer control. I don't want recognition, I want money.
796
I didn’t think so many black mirror prophecies would be fulfilled
161
Notice how it's gig workers and hourly people but NOT management. They wouldn't want this for them. Only you. It's going to be used as a weapon to encourage maximum obedience "because of the implication"
1.1K
You know how a lowly worker wants to be recognized? A raise. Nobody asked for this.
149
I dont think we realize how truly dystopian this idea is.
84
"The system rewards the socially performative, not the competent." NAILED IT!
307
"Discrimination, but make it scalable". That's f'n gold right there. It should be their company tagline.

It should be called gaslighting app. Because most unfavorable scoring is probably from employees with morals and ethics standing up to policy practices and law violations. Therefore telling people they don’t have rights and can be treated like shit in order to obtain and keep gainful employment
31
Because linkedin isn't awful and cringe enough.
2.6K
If an employer put any of my information on an app like this, I'd sue them into oblivion.
1.4K
That app is evil to workers that go from low income jobs to other low income jobs, just to find something better. Now there won’t be anything better at all.
32
He got one employee that said "No" and decided to build whole APP to punish him/her
383
It should be called "Snitch!"
549
Don’t buy anything from any company that implements this. And if this does get implemented, I’ll be forming a company that will give nothing but praises to employees and that’s it’s only purpose of existence making their system unusable.
19
Walmart dropped performance reviews during COVID because it was a waste of time. If you're doing your job, you keep it. If not, you get written up until it's either corrected or you're fired. This app is a waste of time.
286
I had a part time job in Aldi, when I was a high school student. I told them school was a top priority and they agreed (they lied) they kept calling me and asked me to skip school to come to work and I said no. Then I got fired for having low engagement. I stayed in school and I have a good well paying job now. ^^
245
This cannot become a mainstream thing. I swear to god we will all regret it if this sort of dehumanization is allowed to freely come to pass
15
If my employer starts with this bs, I'm quitting that day
1.1K
I mean it's just begging for a class action lawsuit, when it's inevitably abused by shady employers.
659
“It will increase retention”, saying the quiet part out loud, this will mainly be used to scare people out of quitting when they’re being mistreated

An introvert's nightmare
955
This is scary. The CEO sounds entitled.
448
Sadly,we can watch suicide rates increase w the rise of this app.
14
THIS is why "nobody wants to work anymore"!!!
173
He went to a gas station or a Walmart and got mad that employees were helping customers in front of him in line. “Don’t they know I’m a powerful ceo? I deserve to go first!”
414
Fear leads to "lies". "Lies" lead to "false data", "false data" leads to "bad decisions". I can see where this is bad for the long term health of any company that adopts it.
2
Aww yes when they are out having an affair at a Coldplay concert you will be judged and stifled because you didn’t dance at the pizza party. The hypocrisy and tyranny never ends with corporate America
211
1984 was a warning, not an instruction manual!
111
Oh, great. Now the manager that took the claim that an employee outside of our department did the extra work that I did at face value and gave me a bad review over can prevent me from getting a job outside the company! Wait, isn't this just another way to prevent employees from quitting? Give them bad reviews so no one else will hire them? Does this step on our fourteenth amendment rights?
2
Reminds me of a black mirror episode.

I've been rejected at job interviews when they ask for my Facebook, LinkedIn, twitter, and I don't engage in social media. They wanted to scroll my social engagement to check me out. This app is even worse.
504
What an EVIL idea. It’s UNETHICAL. Ban it please!
3
This is not gonna end well. Stuff is already bad, now they're just putting kerosene on the fire
379
I don't see this lasting too long. This app is begging to be hacked.
205
ugh! This is going to get abused by employers! This is against humanity! 🤬 As if we're not slaves to our wages already, this app is humiliating!
4
Dystopian. But then, dystopia is just our real-world direction.
285
I got fired at my old job for not getting along with co-workers due to not watching much TV, football, and not eating donuts... I mean they really took it personally when I expressed a moderate amount of enthusiasm for the donuts (because that stuff makes me feel sick if I have more than one). Then they started going, "He thinks he's too good for us." etc, etc...
235
This is honestly insane every single word you said is pure facts how can this be stopped… because you know anything employees don’t want employers salivate over… how many discriminatory and predatory practices will happen and how will employee rights be protected with this
1
The fake smiles on the employees faces were downright creepy. 🤥😁😨 Growing up, my face never had much expression. Many people can't tell even when I'm happy. It makes it hard to connect with coworkers and being an introvert only makes that worse. This system would extinguish the tiny flames of hope I have left for finding another job. ☹
60
"Drives accountability", and like all management, and police, accountability always ONLY flows from top down, and NEVER from bottom up.
89
Pov ohh look how can we create a more fake passive aggressive toxic work environment 😂😂🙄
3
I always wanted to forget the crappy jobs I had. Documentation not desired.
208
Employees don't care? I have been working at the same place (can't find another place) since 2016. My uncle died. I can't even get 2 days bereavement. My uncle had no living kid or wife, so I am the one organizing his funeral and dealing with the motor vehicle death legal aspects. You bet I am working bare minimum. My mind keeps going back to the terrible moments in the hospital.
78
Oh FFS… PLEASE tell me my employer won’t be doing this… they probably won’t, they’re mostly late-middle-aged to outright old, but my poor kids… 😵‍💫
2
You are naïve if you think employers won't use this as a weapon to threaten employees with, I can even foresee some might even power trip with it and force employees into doing extremely inappropriate acts for them or else they'll just drop their social credit score. 'Report the company for not paying you proper wages? Well we'll crash your credit score and the government won't do anything about it!'.
146
These Gage interviewees look absolutely terrified. This is hostage behavior.
61
F that, people need to say No to any business who uses this social credit score , don’t work for them and boycott them. This dystopic mind control system will only foster a culture of fear and toxicity.
1
Bro don't stop calling out these lunatics coming up with increasingly dystopian ideas. Love what you do!
113
You should not want to build a "lifetime record of career achievements" in gas station restocking and warehouse management. What the fuck????

We have something similar in commercial transportation called Driver-i app and it gives you a score along with cute stars. It rates you on how well you brake at a light or follow the vehicle in front too closely, or react to a vehicle cutting you off or how fast you drive. It's there with cameras facing in at you and out. This system is not to reward you for how well you drive but to hold you accountable for areas you can do better. A perfect run gets you a digital star but a hard brake gets you reprimanded and coached, possibly more depending on your scenario.
This “ceo” had all the tech caricature” attributes: black outfit, bro vest, white tennis shoes, all the buzz words to “change the world”. This is truly a credit score that will haunt everyone. Lawsuits anyone?

What next , microchips, obedience collars ? To quote Oscar Wilde "it is regrettable that a portion of the community should be in virtual slavery but to propose the solution by enslaving the entire community is ridiculous "
41
Sounds about right!! I won't assume I'll ever be able to tell my side of the story or add my input to what's written,, And ya let's forget about the possibility for improvement, If you never did this , You now can't do that ,, So you now never will !! Sounds great !!!

The girl getting the high fives looks like she's ready to have a breakdown. It's not enough to just work and get paid is it these days? These companies always want their pound of flesh, and then more, and more.

Gage: for when LinkedIn feels too emotionally stable.

My job credit score is probably the same as my real credit score I gotta file bankruptcy…
