Look. I think most people don't like change. But objectively, it went from looking professional to something for gamers.

This is a very apt description

I genuinely can't tell if I like it or hate it. I think I hate it.
[–]Th0usT 2 points3 points4 points 2 hours ago (1 child)
It's so bad
[–]deadly-curiousity 1 point2 points3 points 2 hours ago (0 children)
It really is. I really hope they switch it back
[–]Randomdotmath 2 points3 points4 points 3 hours ago (0 children)
I can't tell which is better
[–]AdIllustrious436 2 points3 points4 points 2 hours ago (1 child)
The previous logo was 10 time better.

I didn't even check the screenshot and I agree.

I tried to toggle the logo but couldn't, looks like a button.

I just noticed the redesign and hate it. The neon color is awful in dark mode. I use it to reduce eye strain. The way smaller and less readable font make the chat nearly unusable for me now. I wish they'd let us adjust that. What are the chances they'll switch back?

That neon green has such a vibecoded scent to it, I'm really not a fan. I don't prefer the logo but I could see myself getting used to it at some point, considering everything it could be worse, but that obnoxious yellow everywhere is just kind of putrid to me personally. Like, every hovered over or selected thing is now yellow, they even made the light and dark theme buttons and username field yellow. Not to mention the logo, why did they feel the need to turn almost every element of the website into this putrid shade of yellow/green?! It really makes the whole site look way more unprofessional and just plain ugly IMO. I can't be the only one?

Why is the awful neon yellow only for darkmode? It hurts my eyes especially when combined with smaller font...and the font switched to one that's less readable.
Font size should be adjustable and the main color too. Literally any OTHER color would be fine.

Explanation of brand redesign: https://openrouter.ai/blog/announcements/brand-refresh/
(honestly not a fan of darkmode, it reminds me of Marathon)

Jesus Christ. That's straight-up big corp design bullshit.
OpenRouter added a senior design leader in late 2025 and later advertised another product-design role in spring 2026.
They should've kept it by engineers, for engineers—which is their target demographic.
The job posting from last year: https://builtin.com/job/product-designer/7269316
The person to blame for this mess: https://www.linkedin.com/in/julianthayn/ Straight-up incompetent.
I'm experiencing extremely high latency on the UI after this redesign. Check my other comment.
Changing the font to a web font is straight-up designer bullshit to display their work. Sometimes the best decision is to keep it as-is. But I guess they wouldn't be kept around for that. Changes like web fonts, animated transitions, and redesigned cards serve zero functional purpose. They exist to give the design team visible artifacts to justify their role. This is what happens when a tool hires senior design leadership without engineers gating the decisions.

I had it open in a tab and when I switched back I was surprised it looked different lol
[–]ArtofRemo 0 points1 point2 points a minute ago (0 children)
oef I thought it was a bug at first. The font is an awful downgrade compared to the clean look of the original. This really looks like a downgrade in my honest opinion .

I hate it. I don't care for the color pallete, but the web chat has slowed to a crawl on my desktop. I can only image what it must be like on mobile, as I haven't tested it yet. Instead of changing what doesn't need to change, why not fix existing bugs or add useful features to the chat?
What I suggest:
A nit: they changed the font to Jakarta (adding web font depedency). Why in God's name why? What a useless opinionated change.
[–]noreiawrites 0 points1 point2 points an hour ago (0 children)
All of this! I hate the font, it's causing so much eyestrain I'm seriously looking into alternatives now. I can't keep using their chat like this, it's super slow *and* nearly unreadable now.
