About
Soyjak Extending a Note or Notejak is an exploitable meme format in which a Soyjak is extending a piece of paper towards the viewer, with a short message written down on the note. Based on a photograph of a bartender shared in 2021, the Soyjak format saw spread on Twitter in 2023 as users edited various messages onto the note.
Origin
On June 13th, 2021, Twitter[1] user @trinityallie tweeted a photograph of a bartender passing her a note offering help if a patron who was talking to her was bothering her. The user wrote[2] that the patron was indeed bothering her and her friend, and that the bartender ended up forcing him to leave. In a separate tweet,[3] @trinityalle wrote that she asked the bartender to pose for the photo after the situation was resolved. The tweet accumulated over 42,000 retweets and 207,200 likes in two years (tweet and image shown below, left and right).
Spread
The image saw viral spread online in the following week. For example, on June 16th, 2021, Twitter user GuacamoleFanatic posted it to the /r/pics[4] subreddit, where it gained over 66,000 views prior to being removed.
On March 30th, 2022, an anonymous Soyjak.party user posted the earliest found edit of the image, a Janitor meme that was archived on Soybooru[5] that day (shown below).
On April 21st, 2023, an anonymous Soyjak.party user posted a Soyjak based on the photograph, adding the message "Tip: $0" to the note extended by the bartender. On that day, the image was archived on Soybooru[6] (shown below).
In the following months, the Soyjak gained virality as a meme format on Twitter, with users adding various drawings and messages onto the note, as well as onto the original photograph.

Original image is pretty weird. The guy is making such a strange facial expression, and it's just funny to imagine the girl reading it and then being like "wait, just stand there for a second and touch the note with your fingertips, I want to get a picture of this to share online" while ostensibly trying to be low-key and not attract attention from the guy next to her.

Knowyourmeme users when a mspaint outline drawing of a bearded guy gets a bit viral on 4chan (meme variants are illegal in their ideal meme ethno state)

If ever you needed proof that making soyjacks ugly was a massive projection. They'd be calling this same guy a Chad if they weren't butthurt by the "women respecting" or any other bullshit that set them off.

I don't think this is how soyjaks are supposed to be made. Aren't you supposed to be making fun of people who are not self-aware instead of a sane individual

No, you're supposed to be making fun of whoever you don't like. Countless soyjaks have been devoted to making fun of people specifically for being sane, I'm sure of it.

Was the loser who made the soyjack edit the same creep that got kicked out by the bartender?

Have the soyjak/wojak memes reached a point now where their too intertwined with meme culture that it's nearly impossible to ignore them.

It's completely impossible. Wojaks are a global pandemic, and it seems that even retreating to real life isn't a guarantee that you'll finally be free of them.

Gee I can’t imagine why soyjak posters would be mad about a bartender kicking out a creep harassing women

That's not really why they're criticising it. It's more like "this is obviously a staged tweet and this guy looks goofy as hell"
It's a bit like the Nods Respectfully Towards You tweet way back when gamergate was a thing

I dont think thats the right origin image, the first time I saw the image the story from the tweet was that the lady and her HUSBAND were getting drinks and the husband didn't pass the vibe check, so the bartender gave her the note as a misunderstanding

They just keep coming. It's soyjaks or TikToks all the way down. It really is over.

In my opinion, I prefer Tik Tok way over soyjaks, the funny stuff from Tik Tok tends to find a way out of it and into other sites. Soyjaks are bad 99% of the time.

As far as I know a Soyjak has not been responsible for anyone's death yet, unlike TikTok.
