Great meeting today with officials from Summerville and representatives of Dorchester County. We had an excellent discussion about community needs and how we can continue to work together on things like public safety funding. I really appreciate all the support I’ve received over the years from Dorchester County and look forward to continuing to work with local officials to improve and grow their community.
I just had a great meeting with officials and representatives from across Berkeley County. Berkeley County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state with a great quality of life. I want to partner with the local community to keep it that way. I was pleased to inform those in attendance at the meeting that Berkeley County is receiving one of the unprecedented four BUILD grants awarded to South Carolina. That $22 million grant will be lifechanging to the county’s transportation infrastructure. I am very appreciative of the Trump Administration for awarding these dollars to our state. I’m glad to advocate for communities who are willing to help themselves before asking others. Berkeley County has done that. I’m grateful for the longstanding support I’ve received from Berkeley County and will continue to listen, learn and help lead when it comes to the needs of their community.

One year ago, President Trump signed the One Big Beautiful Bill into law, delivering the largest tax cut for working and middle-class families in American history. As the Senate Budget Chairman, I was proud to lead this effort alongside my Senate and House Republican colleagues. By making the 2017 tax cuts permanent, we stopped a $2,300 tax increase on the average South Carolina family – all without a single Democrat vote. We also ended taxes on tips and overtime and delivered no taxes on Social Security benefits for over 35 million seniors. The One Big Beautiful Bill also codified core components of President Trump’s agenda. Through a generational investment in border security, we put an end to Joe Biden’s open border. We also allocated extensive resources for law enforcement, expanded access to school choice, phased out Green New Deal subsidies and delivered billions of dollars for rural hospitals. Twelve months later, we are now observing transformational results stemming from this legislation. Working families are keeping more of their hard-earned money, providing relief to the lingering inflation ignited under the Biden era. The border is at its most secure point in history with zero illegals released into the country over the past year. Crime is falling to a record low as police departments receive the tools they need to keep communities safe. As we celebrate the past 250 years of American independence, we also recognize the great strides toward a more prosperous and secure future unleashed by this landmark legislation.
In 2027, I'll be Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee once again. And I'll wake up every single day with one goal: confirming as many conservative judges as possible.
On “Carolina Day,” we commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Sullivan’s Island, a critical point in the American Revolution. Today -- 250 years ago -- a band of South Carolina patriots, defeated the British Navy in their attempt to capture the Port of Charleston. These men, devoted to the cause of liberty, defended the land they loved under a blue banner with a shinning crescent, creating the foundation of our state flag. As we observe this milestone, I hope you will join me in celebrating our state’s contributions to the founding of our country. May God bless South Carolina and may God bless America!

I had a great meeting with Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche about his pending nomination and upcoming confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee. I have known Todd for years and can attest that he is a man of the highest level of integrity and character. I think he’s an outstanding choice by President Trump to be our next Attorney General. Todd has a wealth of legal experience that has prepared him well for the duties of the job, which he’s been handling in the Acting Attorney General role. I intend to enthusiastically support his nomination.
Thank you again, Mr. President. I will not let you, South Carolina, or our country down.
It’s National Go Fishing Day! There’s no better escape from screens and traffic than a day out on the water. From fighting to expand red snapper season to supporting conservation projects across our state, I’ll always stand up for South Carolinians’ right to enjoy our lakes, rivers and coast.
Great meeting with the students participating in the Electric Cooperatives of South Carolina Youth Tour on the Senate steps. It’s always encouraging to see young people interested in our government and committed to achieving their goals. The sunshine they brought with them sure seems to foreshadow a bright future ahead of them! And finally, a special thank you to the South Carolina Electric Cooperatives for investing in our state’s next generation. The co-ops’ contributions to South Carolina are unmatched!
Today marks 11 years since the senseless and tragic murder of nine innocent souls at Mother Emanuel AME Church in Charleston. When it seemed like evil would prevail, in the end, it did not triumph. Through the strength and grace of God, the people of South Carolina came together in a way that I hadn’t seen in a long time. May God continue to bless the victims’ families and Mother Emanuel AME Church.

We did it! The Secure America Act is now the law of the land. As Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, I led the charge to fully fund ICE and Border Patrol through President Trump’s term. The American people gave us a mandate to secure the border and end Joe Biden’s illegal immigration invasion. I’m pleased to have delivered a product that fulfills our promises on these issues. With this historic level of funding, we won’t go back to the failed policies of the Biden Administration. Instead, we’re moving forward to a brighter and more secure future.
