Terrible sounding CD, all the high end has been NR'd out and they've cross-faded the crowd noise over the song intros. Stick with the Bolan At The Beeb set from 2007.

Definitely a bootleg, they've just taken the official download tracks and cross faded them (with some very fake sounding applause added to the "Take Me Back To Dear Old Blighty" at the start.

Not to mention the added live "Some Girls" from Dec '86, which previously appeared as a B-side. The spectrals for that track are cut off a little lower than the rest.

Despite being a Hallmark records release, this is actually a terrific CD and is licensed from Rollercoaster Records, the owners of Link's Swan catalog.

The version of "Raw-Hide" on here is actually from Link's Cadence session in 1958 and was unreleased at the time, later appearing on Rollercoaster's complete 1958 Cadence recordings CD.

This is available in lossless from Qobuz in the UK.

The original Omnibus LP of "Oh, Inverted World" is a different mastering to the common Sub Pop LP, but it is in no way superior.

The content is identical, but the cutting is very bass-shy and a bit sibilant and distorted. A great collector piece but stick to your standard edition for listening.

The mastering of the 11 album tracks is identical to the US Sub Pop CD, but the bonus track Sphagnum Esplanade is mastered a little bit louder than the "Know Your Onion" CD single. Nothing exclusive here worth tracking down.

Possibly the worst sounding reissue of this album. Sourced from a digital dub of the US master tape.

Find the Edsel CD instead!

A great starter collection of early Johnny "Guitar" Watson if you can overlook a few flaws. If you see it cheap, pick it up!

Pros:

- Has all of his Federal and RPM A & B sides, as well as both sides of the original Keen "Gangster of Love" single from 1957
- Great sound quality overall, tracks are cloned from two excellent non-public domain CDs, "Hot Like TNT" on Ace (1996) and "Gangster Of Love" on Charly/King (1990)

Cons:

- A number of tracks contain errant clicks and pops not present on the original CDs they are taken from, most notably the two Keen sides.
- The two Chuck Higgins tracks are bad sounding needledrops. Great quality copies from the masters are available on Chuck Higgins "Blows His Wig!" on Ace.
- Tracks aren't in chronological order, and the liner notes offer no clues as to the details of each song.

Possibly the worst album he recorded for Chess. Apart from the title track it's just utter crap. Should have been titled "Bo Diddley Is Out Of Ideas".

Great compilation, but unfortunately the Billy Boy Arnold songs sound terrible (sourced from acetate), and "Billy's Blues Part I" is mp3 sourced.

Luckily there's an Ace Records comp called "House Rockin' Blues" which has the Billy Boy Arnold tracks in full fidelity!
