Do the moderators want us to flag/ report all of the spam posts or just one?
what is easier for you/ does it matter

I am asking since these spam posts keep showing up and i am never sure, and then i only report one.
But maybe it is easier in the moderation tool if all are flagged idk

    Developer-Dude here it is

@JayJay My experience is that from signup to being able to post or activate account should be 24-48 hours.
And if also implemented the way that once you do your first post, receive an email with a link to verify/activate first post then it should be very effective.

@de0u That might help filter out some miscreants, but it would be pretty troublesome for people whose devices are in a boot loop or people who are stuck during an installation.

I wonder if something like rate limiting new threads creation by new accounts would be feasible. Or by all accounts if spammers preregister. I think 3 new threads in 10 minutes should cover the needs of most.

legreteco Lol, do you think he has a bot set up or it's manual? If it was manual I'd expect better and different insults. I've seen the spammers reply sometimes though.

Carrousel7956 sometimes. I just think it would still be inconvenient to new users to wait for moderator approval. I see you're point though and agree it would help with spam

Not sure about the fixation on Racoondad, though.

My initial thought was it was one of the crypto spammers that got mad their posts are getting removed but since it mentions racoondad I honestly have no idea the motive.

Another idea is to hide threads for future approval, but only if 3 people report them, but this can be exploited to hide legitimate threads. Or maintain a list of trusted community members whose 1 report would be enough to hide the thread.

The reason that I thought it could be a random spammer unrelated to the forum topic was because of the mention of moderators, which would be the people that would annoy a spammer.

legreteco in addition, that last spam was in different categories. Only if someone was so bored to actually make the bot even post in different categories, a bot would feasible.

But I think those crypto recovery and spam posts with whatsapp numbers probably have a gigantic list of forums to post in. Those are likely not targeted, this "dorks" one seems to be.

legreteco He's clearly not reasonable enough to listen to such advice if this longterm targeted attack has become his hobby.

We got a ton more info tho, lol
