Behold the Power Nap
Why sometimes the most productive thing you can do is take a nap
I really admire people who can go, go, go. I, however, have never been one of those people.
Now, don’t get me wrong. I take my responsibilities seriously, and most days I accomplish more than I set out to. But I also have a healthy respect for work-life balance. I believe in getting outside each day, enjoying nature, connecting with people, and simply taking time to enjoy life. Could I use that time more productively? Sure.
But I have learned that productivity is not the only measure of a good day.
The previous two nights, I hadn’t slept well at all. And when I don’t sleep well, my energy levels run low. Normally, I only need four or five solid hours of sleep to function well — less than what is typically recommended. But this week was different.
Yesterday, after finishing my work, I decided that instead of heading to the pool, I would see if I could take a nap. I wasn’t sure whether I would simply rest for a bit or actually fall asleep.
Ahhh… behold the power of a power nap.
