Welcome back to Waifu Wednesday, Niche Gamer’s column where we talk about characters, their appeal, and a little on their history.

This week’s waifu is Evie from the upcoming game Stellar Blade: BLOOD RAIN.

Stellar Blade: BLOOD RAIN is the upcoming sequel to 2024’s Stellar Blade from developer SHIFT UP.

At the time, Stellar Blade made waves for its sexy protagonist EVE and its action gameplay, unfortunately the game became a focal point in social media culture war inanity. In true sequel fashion, Evie has been passed the torch and started a new wave of people acting weird on social media.

Evie and EVE have a lot in common, they’re both beautiful women but where EVE is more elegant with her long hair, Evie is decisively a tomboy (or at least looks like one). We haven’t gotten to see much of Evie, but she has short hair, a cute face, and what little we have seen we can infer she’s got a spirited personality.

Evie also uses powerful moves almost like a boxer, which creates a charm point with the contrast between her short height but powerful body language.

Some fans have already begun making cosplay of Evie, even though her game was only announced a few days ago.

A release date and consoles for Stellar Blade: BLOOD RAIN have yet to be confirmed, but it’s worth mentioning the original game is on PC, PlayStation 5, and is coming to Nintendo Switch 2.
