I literally fell in love with Godot when I first saw that single exe file. No installation, no long waiting times like with Unreal Engine (or even GameMaker!), no complicated setup. A single portable file that I could even carry around on a USB stick was my first big surprise, and the initial reason, among many others later on of course, why I still use Godot today.
However, and here comes the question, I never really took the time to understand how this system actually works behind the scenes. I assume the files are somehow embedded or hidden internally. Has anyone already looked into this and can briefly explain how the single executable file works under the hood?
All the research ive been able to dig up shows "not really but maybe" with links to plug-ins or work arounds that are out of date. Im needing a way to play short, looping videos in my game and everyone says only .ogg is supported. Anything new come about that I might have missed that would give me mp4/webm compatability? Godot 4.
