On 11/15/21, Scourge the Hedgehog was revealed to return in the then-upcoming comic mini-series by RUSH! Comics, titled Scourge the Speed Demon, in association with Ken Penders. This comic was canceled four days later, due to backlash of RUSH!'s past works and beliefs.

What appears to be a cover for Scourge the Speed Demon. This artwork depicts former Archie Sonic the Hedgehog character, Scourge the Hedgehog (now dubbed a "Speed Demon"), running smugly through a burst of flames, while smoking a cigar.

The original announcement tweet reads:

Follow Scourge & his Hellfire Gang as they conquer The Wasteland.

Some of Scourge's design changes include small tufts of fur across his face, ears, and quills, the latter of which are now black at the end. His sun glasses are now goggles, fingerless gloves, spiked boots with blue/white flames at the toe, leg wrappings, and his chest scar looking more like burn marks.
