When it comes to saving lives, it truly takes a village. In January, UPMC committed $10 million to the City of Pittsburgh to help modernize its aging EMS vehicle fleet. It was an investment that met an urgent need and will fund the purchase of multiple ambulances and rescue trucks over the next two years. Today, we are proud to build on that momentum. UPMC is committing an additional $25 million over the next five years to support essential EMS equipment and vehicles for the City of Pittsburgh. Our combined $35 million investment reflects our shared responsibility to the region and the EMS teams who serve it every day. We’re grateful to call Pittsburgh home and are focused on ensuring everyone has access to fast, reliable, lifesaving care. Together with our colleagues at Highmark, we’re united in our commitment to the communities we serve. It’s incredible to see so many Pittsburgh-based organizations come together to strengthen the region. Across the country, emergency medical services are facing growing demands. And communities rely on their care more than ever. Ensuring a strong, sustainable EMS system in the City of Pittsburgh isn’t the responsibility of any single entity. It takes partnership, collaboration, and a shared passion. I want to extend my thanks to Pittsburgh’s EMTs, paramedics, dispatchers, firefighters, and all other first responders who care for our neighbors. It's an honor to stand by your side.
