can somebody tell me the origin of vlc's main symbol? me and the boys started literally worshipping the cone™ back in 2019 and it is still a local meme of sorts (we must install the funni roadcone player on everything we own or else...). the question is: why the roadcone though? such a random object for player software

The cone icon used in VLC is a reference to the traffic cones collected by École Centrale's Networking Students' Association.
