I'm so tired of minors coming online and announcing their age and other sensitive personal information to the digital beyond. No, saying you're 13 y/o doesn't protect you from weirdos, it just attracts more of them your way and then you'll complain why people are weird to you.
This is my biggest problem with the internet nowadays, I'm not saying they're at fault if they do get targeted online, but seriously, back in my day *back cracking*, everyone was 21 until they turn 21.
It's also so concerning as an author myself how these kids carelessly interact with content not for them, leave a big fat comment stating why it makes them uncomfortable, and when you ask why they're even reading it, they seriously say "Stuff like these shouldn't be anywhere online for minors like me".
If you're curious, it's totally fine to take a peek, God knows I've done so myself at a young age, but at least have the decency to do it privately because you're entering spaces not meant for you and then later complain when it offends you specifically because your not yet developed brain can't handle mature content.
Can parents just please do their job? It's not my responsibility to comfort and set boundaries with your chronically online rabid child when they're the ones willingly accessing my NSFW art and fics.
honestly I think tiktok and how social media etiquette is today play a big part in this. I know at this point I probably sound like I “blame everything on tiktok” but considering how the majority of puritans are there and how cancel culture spreads like a plague, it’s always people with this “tiktok mindset” that think the internet revolves around their personal likings and comfort. and these people, be it adults or minors, think others have to censor themselves because “there are minors on the internet”. they seem to have trouble understanding the very simple concept that strangers on the internet are not the parents or babysitters of minors who choose to consume nsfw contents on their own free will.
and I am not saying minors should not create or consume nsfw contents either. I know they do things that are more extreme than this in real life. when I was a minor, I sure did things that were way more extreme than reading spicy fanfics. but yeah it becomes an issue, or at least annoying, when adults — who exist in adult space — are expected to censor themselves because minors decide to walk into a space that says “not suitable for minors”.

If I'm a minor/ageless blog and I want to like a fanfic or something else mdni(so I know i read it/liked it) from a blog that says they'll block ageless/minor blogs for interacting, do you think they would they still block me for liking the post?
I honestly don’t know, anon. I can’t read their minds or predict what hypothetical strangers would do.
I personally don’t agree with them for expecting strangers to disclose their age, aka their personal information, online. no one owes strangers anything, even their rough age range. and like. I don’t think these people know what privacy is anymore. but say, if you put 50 people whose blogs says “you’ll get blocked if you don’t disclose your age” in a room together — maybe 25 of them will actually block you for not disclosing your age while the other 25 people don’t actually care. so it depends entirely on each person and what each of them will do is not something I can predict.
I want to say again that I believe anyone can block anyone they want for whatever reasons or for no reason at all. the only thing I disagree with here is how they expect others to disclose their personal information to them
not to sound old but I actually hate how social media platforms have shifted from its main core (people sharing harmless glimpses of their lives and connecting with friends and family) to algorithm, likes, engagement, trends, going viral, drama and cancel culture. and also you literally cannot scroll down a few posts without ads. and you have to question every cute photo/video you see because there’s always a chance of it being ai-generated.
(I try not to question things and just let myself enjoy cute animal contents, because if I fully let myself suspect one thing, I’ll suspect every single thing and that’s not how I want to relax and enjoy cute animal contents. so at this point I kind of give up and just enjoy cute animal contents and I make peace with knowing chances are that I’ve already liked and shared animal contents that are ai-generated without knowing it’s ai. and I know this may sound controversial but I refuse to let myself lose my whimsy by not enjoying any cute animal contents for fear of it being ai so whatever. the same goes for witch hunt when it comes to fanfics, I’ll choose to trust that if someone uses ai to write, they’ll tag it accordingly — especially because every ai telltale is something humans actually write and thus ai was able to mimic it — and every fic that’s not tagged as ai is human-made. which I know is not the case, but I also know that, unless the author themself says so, I can never know for sure if a fic is ai and I can only guess based on vibes. and I’ll never ever condone witch hunt, speculation or harassment, the latter of which includes fics that are tagged as ai by the authors. I may not agree with their decisions to let ai write for them, but I’ll mind my own business, I’ll never harass them and I respect that they’re honest about using ai by tagging their works accordingly. but we’ve already strayed farther enough from the original point of this post so.)

Thank you for continuing to stand up for those who aren't afraid to write what they want because it's easy to get discouraged. I sometimes have to take a step back from what I write to process what I'm doing because I am very morally driven, but this also helps me cope
Yes I know IRL this is bad
But also I have traumas (not SA related but trauma nonetheless) and kinks that are related to all that stuff people hate.
And that's ok because I'm weird people don't have to like me
So thank you for sticking up for us weirdos out there :)
allthingswhumpyandangstyAnonymous asked:Hello! Just came across this blog and found this. I've been sitting on a fanfiction idea for the longest time, that involves an age-gap romance which is super slow burn. Just wanted to know what you think of such romances (Male Character in an alternate universe x Original Female Character in an entirely different setting) in general. I'm trying to put in every possible ethical boundary in said romance. I guess this is me trying to vent my anxieties somewhere. This has been a super long rant. Thank you already for keeping your ask box open and you may not even see this. Hope you have a good day/afternoon/evening/night/time of the day wherever you are. And I'm so sorry for dumping this here.XX. A.age-gap romance is not my thing. not because I think it’s taboo (even in real life, there’s nothing taboo about two consenting adults being in a relationship) but because I’m only interested in writing about my ship, and they both happen to be middle-aged men so. there’s just no age gap for me to think about to begin with. but ****trigger warning ahead**** I do write about taboo things like rape, violence, child death, cannibalism, blood and gore, etc. and I’ve been writing them explicitly and unapologetically for almost a decade now. so my advice is this: write whatever you want, however you want. no matter if it’s taboo or graphic or messed up. because it’s fiction. it’s not real. you write it for your own enjoyment. no one in real life is being harmed, so don’t censor yourself, don’t hold back from creating the art you want to create. but really, age gap between consenting adults is just… a normal relationship, if there’s no abuse. there’s nothing wrong or taboo about it. #admin answers#writing#writer#writeblr#writers#fanfiction#fanfic#writing community345
allthingswhumpyandangstyAnonymous asked:Hi there sorry to bother! I just gen want something cleared out because I keep on staying in the middle even if I don't want to, every time I go to Tiktok and see puritans or sometimes just ppl in general flame tf out of authors in AO3, I get confused cs isn't AO3 for ppl who freely read and write topics without censorship? Now they're saying that they should hold writers like that accountable because of what they write? Saying the "Don't like, don't read" term is just an excuse that they like writing a certain topic most people won't like. Or when writing/reading it as a coping mech is problematic because "Why would you read/write something that includes a topic like that?" Or "Fiction does affect reality, look at the lolicons!"I don't go into deeply with whatever fantasy other people have, I'm just on the surface level but wow, writing x reader fics or any form of fanfic both has it's own set of sides with puritans, normies, and freakies going on and off the borders (except most writers do tag them properly), I'm sorry if you get confused about how I wrote this out I don't get it either I'm just feeling torn outthe recent posts I made about this are here, here, here, here and here. there are more. I believe I’ve talked about this more than 100 times now. so I’m not gonna type another long essay on this because I’ve already said everything I wanted to say on this exact topic so many times on this blog in the past, and at this point I’m just repeating the same thing I’ve said time and time again. but to sum it up without yet another long essay on the same topic, thought crimes are not real. you (general you) cannot hold anyone “accountable” for having dark fantasies and harming fictional characters. we are playing with our imaginary barbie dolls in our imaginary sandboxes here. we can decapitate our barbie dolls if we want because barbie dolls have no life or feelings. so what these people on tiktok are saying is: “yes, let’s harass real people who harm their barbie dolls. we must hold them accountable because we’re the morally superior ones”. it is that crazy and stupid. also here’s my response to the “fiction can affect reality” mindset puritans seem to hold, quote:❝ if someone thinks the bad things someone writes in fiction are okay in real life because they’re portrayed as such in fanfiction, chances are that—with or without the fiction they consume—they’re already troubled and they need help. but their inability to separate fiction from reality is not fanfic writers’ problem or business. fanfic writers are not the parents or babysitters of a stranger whose existence they don’t even know about. ❞the last thing I will say about this is that tiktok is a shithole full of bullies who like to harass real people over fictional characters for the sake of feeling morally superior. but no matter what they say, no matter what excuse they resort to, at the end of the day, they’re just bullies. #admin answers#profic#proship#anti censorship#writing#writer#writeblr#writers#fanfiction#fanfic#fandom#fandoms#writing discussion#writing discourse#writing community1275

I'M A MINOR AND PEOPLE WHO READ OUR STORIES EVEN IF THEY ARE ADULTS AND INTERACT WITH THEM MAKE US HAPPY LIKE ANY OTHER WRITER. THEY ARE ENJOYING OUR FANFIC, NOT OUR NAKED BODY. If they don't interact with our posts first of all: we are going to stop writing (probably), be more insecure and feel so limited because adults always says what we should do/watch which apparently doesn't allow us to explore taboo topics because they think we must only see cute things and we shouldn't explore darkships because that can affect our "reality". Man, while you are a teenager most of times you get a corn addiction and curiosity about it. Yes, we can be manipulated. No, some of us like explore darkships in the neuronal part.Being a pedophile means you are attracted to a minor which isn't illegal, the illegal part is act over that. If an adult like, reblog or comment in a NSFW fanfic of 2 adults from a minor writer instead of block the account or something like that they should support them because if they support the minor they will be more confident about their writing and will improve.my opinion on this is that no one should know a stranger’s age. period. someone’s age and whether or not they’re a minor is their private information. so if anything, it’s creepy for someone to demand to know someone else’s age before they reblog or interact with their nsfw contents. you (general you) shouldn’t care about a stranger’s private information. if you like someone’s nsfw works, or any works in general, it’s always encouraged that you support them by interacting with their works, liking, reblogging, giving them kudos, commenting positive things on their works, etc. their age is their private information. and it should be irrelevant to the fan contents they create. and also, since you’re a minor, my genuine advice would be that you don’t make it known to strangers that you’re a minor. guard this as a sensitive, private information that you don’t disclose online — because there are bad people out there who target minors. I am not saying “lie about your age”. I am not saying “minors shouldn’t create or engage with nsfw or taboo contents”. obviously, create whatever you want. consume whatever you want. post your nsfw fics and/or fanart. but no strangers need to know that you’re a minor. that is your private information. #admin answers#writing#writer#writeblr#writers#fanfiction#fanfic#fandom#fandoms#fandom discussion#fandom discourse18142

I prefer B/C as a ship but the way things are happening right now in my fic A/C would make for a way better story and i just dont know what to do. Now i dont mind that ship, but there is a clear preference lol. allthingswhumpyandangsty“why do some fanfic writers write non-con fics when it’s for the sake of smut and romanticized?”some victims and survivors use dark fiction to cope and heal from their trauma, because in their fics, they are in control of what happens. they can turn the table and turn what happens into something that’s not traumatizing. and they can do that because they don’t owe you anything. it’s a kink to some people, even though they were never victims. people can enjoy it and find it hot because at the end of the day it’s just a fantasy. it’s not real. they don’t owe you anything. it’s cathartic and/or therapeutic to some to see their favorite fictional characters suffer. that’s why whump is such a popular trope; people love putting their fictional little guys through hell. non-con is a part of whump. and these people don’t owe you anything. fanfic writers can write whatever they want, however they want. they don’t owe you anything. allthingswhumpyandangstysometimes I’m reminded that there are still people who don’t know ao3 was literally created by incest shippers — and the site’s sole purpose is to 1. be completely against censorship and 2. host all kinds of dark, taboo fics that are banned on other platforms — and the first ever fic that was posted on ao3 was a fic about an incest ship from supernatural. you are in the house that was created by freaks. for freaks (affectionate). every disgusting thing you can think of is rightfully allowed and welcomed on ao3, because they are exactly the reasons why ao3 was created in the first place. ao3 was created because its creators got tired of censorship, they got tired of dark and taboo fics getting banned on pro-censorship platforms, and they wanted a place that was safe for ALL FICS THAT WERE DARK AND TABOO. ao3’s main principle is being against censorship and being proship / profic. there are some things in fiction that make me uncomfortable, but instead of shaming people who are just minding their own business and not harming anyone in real life, I choose to curate my own internet experience by blocking/muting what I don’t want to see. ao3 has excellent tagging system, so instead of being a bitch, use their tagging system properly and you won’t see the things you don’t want to see. it’s your job to curate what you see. it’s not other people’s jobs or responsibilities to censor themselves for your personal comfort. the world does not revolve around you. also you cannot censor “only the things you personally hate” without expecting everything else, that isn’t of conservative beliefs, to be censored too. because censorship is a slippery slope and a fascist tool. I promise you there are people who think “why do tags for queer love even exist on ao3? they’re grooming children”. if you allow the things that you hate to be censored — because someone with enough power gets to control what other people can and cannot create/consume, it will not stop at the things that you hate. *illustration by sillyalexnorris#profic#proship#anti censorship#writing#writer#writeblr#writers#fanfiction#fanfic#comfort character#fandom#fandoms#ao3#archive of our own#writing community#blorbo#fandom discourse#fandom discussion#blorbos#fictional characters… See all4,2828,758
allthingswhumpyandangstyI think a whole lot of people today in the ‘TikTok’ era put way too much pressure on themselves about whether or not something they create/consume in fandom space or fiction as a whole can taint their real life morality and whether or not they’re still “morally pure” enough because they create, consume or want to consume something in fiction — be it the topics of said fiction or how said fiction was made. and I think this moral panic is the result of the raise of cancel culture and purity culture. even for people who are anti censorship. I mean… so many people who are anti censorship have asked me “is it morally wrong for me to read this fic because the fic author has done xyz?”, “is it okay for me to write fic about this fandom because of the controversy surrounding its canon creator?”, “is it bad that I want to write a fic about this taboo thing?”, “am I an asshole if I xyz?” and while my answer is always “do whatever you want forever as long as you’re minding your own business and not actively harming anyone in real life, you don’t need a stranger’s opinions or approval when it comes to your hobby and business”, I think their concerns and fear are the result of purity culture, cancel culture and censorship (aka what algorithm, going viral, being accepted by strangers on the internet and what social media platforms like tiktok and twitter have taught people, especially the new generation). I don’t know, maybe it’s because I’ve never cared what strangers think about me or what I do. maybe it’s because I don’t give a shit what they may say about me because they don’t matter to me and I do things for my own enjoyment, not their approval. but it’s unfortunate how so many people today care this much about opinions and approval of strangers on the internet and how they’re always so harsh on themselves by constantly applying moral compass on everything they do, including hobbies that are no one else’s business. #anti censorship#profic#proship#writing#writer#writeblr#writers#fanfiction#fanfic#fandom#fandoms#fandom discussion#fandom discourse#writing community#blorbo#blorbos#fictional characters#comfort character53252

I think the bigger issue is actually that they believe it will PROMOTE that behaviour. I would like people who believe this to consider: Did every child exposed to the concept of Disney Processes grow up to try and be royalty? Did every person who saw The Hudson Hawk try to rob a bank?Do all the people who watch and enjoy the Batman series dress up and fight people inna bat costume? No. The existence of an idea dies not promote action upon it. That is decided by your personal mortality, and that is ALL on should be judged by. Ideas are just concepts. allthingswhumpyandangstyAnonymous asked:I feel many people attack some fanfic tropes/ships/dynamics because they scare the shit out of them. Like some tropes are based on deep dark stuff are not ok in society and we tend to get scared when we see an author using those ideas/tropes/dynamics. Although my philosophy is to live and let live because it's just FanFiction and fictional characters, also I understand the need to police certain topics some people have because it triggers them in an irrational way. For instance back in the day incest was somehow accepted by everyone, yet for some reason now everyone jumps to your neck if you talk about "wincest" without even waiting to see what the fanfic itself is about. I get it we all know incest is bad, but fictional characters help us channeling out some of our darkest emotions and feelings (for me it was incest and now after years i can't read/write incest anymore hahaha but duh it's FanFiction not mass producing books for children and we had really dark stuff being sold for children anyways in all book stores) I see where you're coming from and I agree with you, except for this part "I understand the need to police certain topics some people have because it triggers them in an irrational way". certain topics can absolutely trigger people in irrational ways, and however someone feels about any topic is valid. that said, I think it's still not an excuse for said someone to harass or shame other people who are 1. minding their own business 2. not harming anyone in real life.if a certain topic triggers you (general you) in an irrational way, what you should do is curate your own internet experience by muting/blocking what you don't want to see. you are responsible for what you interact with on the internet. you control what you see. but you don't get to control what other people can and cannot do.#admin answers#profic#proship#writing#writer#writeblr#writers#fanfiction#fanfic#fandom#fandoms#fandom discussion#fandom discourse#writing community12100
