The Last Airbender news

not much has been revealed on M. Night Shyamalan's Avatar adaption of the hit nickelodeon TV series but from what has I don't think I'm going to like it, I loved the show and still do and don't want to see this ruined, so unfortunately I may have to blind myself. The story is the same, set in an a world of Asian influenced martial arts and Magic, where the avatar is reawokened and soon on his way to save the world with his new friends. Avatar Aang is to be played by Noah Singer and Zuko is to be played by Dev Patel (made famous by slumdog millionaire) and Jackson Rathbone is to appear in this movie and right now I'm thinking he is to be Sokka. Now this is supposed to be asain or possibly english as the TV series was but everything seems to be indian, I have nothing against them but I am pretty peeved from the pics I've seen., anyways...pics:

The arrow on Aang's head is a tattoo so in real life it would look like the above pic and not as bright as the cartoon and if you look closely at Zuko's face you can see that the scar is there and just as big as the one in the cartoon....the kid playing Aang isn't fat it's just that he has his chest pushed out in that pose and it kind of makes him look chunky

I'm just gonna wait to see what  happens...

from what i've heard the guy is a really good actor so despite him being Indian he could be really awesome in the movie....we'll have to wait and see

as for Aang the kid playing him won a lot of martial arts awards and in school his friends used to call him the Avatar because they thought that he looked like Aang so in my opinion they picked the perfect kid....atleast he's not a hollywood actor with no martial arts experience at all

I tatto could look alot better, the show wasn't that diffrent from things in real life so they shouldn't be that hard to make in real life, I like the movie, I'm a fan of the show and I am looking forward to this

I'm turning toward agreeing with you, I'm just still not sure, I think being a cartoon based movie things could be a bit more emphasized "

I think It was the whole Dev Patel playing my second fave char and the barely visible burn scar but you never know

I've seen the first & last images before.  They're okay, but nothing to get my psyched up for this.  Not yet, anyway.

it looks like some of the movie will show what happens while Aang is frozen

They filmed some of the movie in the town I lived in... haha
I'm excited for it. Should be good and interesting to see the reading pagoda in it..

Yeah yeah, "lol lol", well done.  So I missed the crappy quality YouTube trailer among all the inane chatter about the scar tattoo not being good enough.  The one time I happened to miss a comment didn't really deserve three replies, especially not from two members.  Congratulations, you can pat yourself on the back & feel superior for 2 minutes...  "

Like I said before...This is definatley a movie that the fans should have had influence on...Zuko is not Indian...Aang is Not FAT...WTF M.Night.Shamalan...I hate you...I thought you might make a good one...but once again, you have dissapointed me to no end...

Everything about Zuko is wrong..no scar..no ponytail...and he doesn't even look like an emo kid...

And why do they have fur coats..?

They should have just animated the movie.

It looks like they're in the North Pole.  They may be Fire Benders, but I'm guessing that doesn't give them 24/7 central heating.

Don't panic about the film.  Yes, a lot of the characters will be predominantly Persil white, but that's to be expected from an American film.  Perhaps it might have been different if it had been produced anywhere other than Hollywood, but it's still in the hands of a character-driven director.  There are bound to be a lot of changes for the production, but post-production is also a huge part of the movie-making process so you might still get some of the things you're crying for.

And who cares if Zuko is Indian?  Dev Patel is a thousand times better than Jesse McCartney, and is a black belt in tae kwan do.  Everyone in the world knows he's an accomplished actor, and he has the physical skills to back up a role like Zuko.  Dev Patel or Jesse McCartney...? I'd pick the Slum Dog over the 'Beautiful Soul' any day.

I wouldn't have rooted for an animated movie I really wanted to see this in a real life thing, but I'm not M. Shyamalan was the right guy, his movies aren't particularly brilliant(at all) I did like Signs (2002) and the Sixth Sense (1999). It also seems people are pissed that Sokka and Katara are caucasian O_o. anyway more cast news (with pics ;D) ::

I was under the impression that they were going to do 3 films with each based off of a season and if that's the case why would they have the Firelord already cast

The animated series crammed a lot of cultures into the mix... Every religioin has a term for "avatar" but the actual phrase avatar is indian....watching the cartoon there were elements of hinduism, buddhism, toaism, ect...along with indian, chinese, korean, japanese cultural elements.  So it makes a lot of sense that all of the characters arent just one race.

also, sakka and katara being played by white people doesnt bother me too much... they may have been asian or eskimo in the cartoon but they had blue eyes... i realize a lot of animation shows asains with blue/green eyes but in real life thats just not true...i live in asia and i have never once seen anyone with blue eyes....

I really enjoyed the series and am hoping this turns out good... but shamalan being involved scares me...

m.night shamalame is directing and bad casting im not going to jump to concultions but i cant help to fell this movie might turn out worse than DBE

Ah yes.  Yet another instance of at least the director having no clue as to the content of the series.  I have not trusted a movie in the hands of M. Night Shymalan since the Sixth Sense.  It honestly seems as if whatever magic he had with that film has been completely thrown away and replaced with insanity.  Anyone remember Signs? /shiver.  I would much rather have had a full length animated movie made instead of this.  I fear this movie will meet the same sad end as befell Dragonball.
