Hunter felt... cautious. Even after two months of therapy, he hadn’t yet escaped the fear of hurting his friends, especially Yael. It felt hard to believe he was sitting at home with all four of them together again.
“You look nice,” said Yael.
“Oh really?”, replied Hunter.
“Yeah dude,” said Vijay, “We were worried you’d look like a screwed-up asylum patient.”
“Well, it wasn’t an asylum,” Hunter said, “It was just a therapist, and I’ve gotten better.”
“I sure hope so,” responded Yael, “I missed reading comic books with you.”
“Hey, with how long I’ve been gone, guess we’ve gotta catch up a lot,” said Hunter.
Everyone was smiling. It felt good to be joking around with everyone again.
Over in the distance, Miles shouted to Tristan, “How dare you!”
“How dare you!”, Tristan shouted back, as the two walked off together.
“What’s with them?”, wondered the Hollingsworths’ mother.
“Beats me,” said Frankie.
“Well,” started Yael, “I think we’ve got some cards to draw.”
“I’m sure I’ll win,” said Hunter.
Hunter felt glad. He really wanted to see her again, and now he was here. He just had to do his best to be better.
