I will say that a lot of the bad stuff Quote has done can be chalked up to him being some faggoted teenager as opposed to a malicious actor, you could say the same about Mustard and Cobblestone. I can't envision them as a scheming mastermind like Gustavo Fring. But rather shut-in retards who are completely out of touch with the world they live in.

Maybe I'm not explaining it properly consider the following:

Day 1:
There is a 'log 3/4 full of gems and 1/4 full of bait. The bait threads get about 100-200 replies while gems get around 10-20 replies. This shows that there is more demand for bait posts than gem posts because the users of the website decide that they want to give a reward (attention and wasted time) to bait as opposed to a gem.

Day 7:
Because it is established that users will award bait, the 'log is split between half-bait and half-gem. Bait is still getting replied to fulfilling it's purpose.

Day 14:
The 'log is a shithole full of bait.

Best case scenario demand falls for bait as it becomes a dime a dozen. The site returns to homeostasis, and more gems are being posted.

Even better some form of quality control is enforced (on /soy/) but not too excessively to not make it a rulecucked shithole much like the Swedish Jarty and 4chan where making high-effort stuff isn't really rewarding.
