I think what floored me the most was watching what happened in Afghanistan after the US pulled out. Sharia law is messed up, and it returned over night. Women lost all their rights in a 24 hour time period.

Meanwhile a game comes out with an attractive woman in it, and women are "literally dying." The histrionics are so over the top. They're just disconnected from reality.

They've been taught that disagreement is violence, but that actual violence against women is just part of a culture we need to accept.

Maybe that's why? I don't know exactly how to explain it, but maybe they're so used to call things "violence" that they're desensitized to it in a way, so when they see stuff like that, they might not realize how different that is. There's only so much you can do from a completely different country that isn't involved anymore, but still... Get a fucking grip.

It's been difficult in my own personal life. I had to cut off my best friend's mother and sister who have been friends for decades.

They said they wouldn't ever vote for a man. I have a four year old son. They wouldn't vote for him based on immutable characteristics.

They went on to lambast me for the way Muslims were treating women in Afghanistan, and were completely honest that they believed all men are responsible for the actions of any man.

The trouble is all the men are checking out of their lives. They don't have anyone to build or repair or protect, and I think they're starting to notice.

Weak men make hard times, and when those ladies find themselves in need of help they're not going to find it. My son's generation is noping out of dating. They don't see the point.

Men are still going to end up paying. I think we're heading towards a harem based society. A small portion of men and women will have traditional relationships. The remaining women will be shared by a small portion of the guys who are deemed desirable. The large portion of the guys who are unwanted/undesirable are still going to have to help pay for these women's children and other expenses through their tax dollars that fund an ever increasing benefits system.

Those would likely be fine as long as people don't live separated by gender, the issue would be if an all-female household needs a repair, I guess.

I was thinking of social attitudes mostly, at the "minimum" is men not giving up their seats for pregnant women or those who travel with young kids, at worst is some kind of Taliban-esque situation where women might as well be an object.

I think there are going to be a LOT more all female households going forward.

I game on Saturdays with long time friends. Four out of five are single with no desire to date. All are over 40. All have saved a big pile of money. They're happy as clams.

Meanwhile my female friends over 40 have no retirement savings, a dead end job if any, and crippling debt. One lives in a tent in someone's front yard.

I already see men not giving up their seats, or defending women, or opening doors. Those social attitudes are getting worse, and it's building into seething resentment, because they know society hates men.

At the same time the proportion of citizens from cultures who don't respect women are growing, especially in Europe. I think you're right that a Talian-esque situation is on the way, because only men can stop that from happening, and they're just going to shrug at best, and laugh at worst.

Very few people can understand society at a macro level.

The young men noping out of society don't care about downstream consequences. They just want to get off work, and go home and get high and game. They'll tune everything else out.

Eventually the crime will intrude, but by the time society wakes up it's generally too late and you're too close to collapse.

There's a reason I spent the last few years prepping. I bought a solar generator, tools, hardware, food, a firearm, and then learned how to use it all.

The cavalry isn't coming and if Europe is any indication we're going to see skyrocketing violence in the next few years. If it goes full balkanization yikes.

Hopefully things stabilize, and that is still very possible IMO, but we are due for a crash so I expect some hard years. Crime was awful in the 70s and marriage rates were down, but nothing like today.

True, but to be fair I feel like society as a whole is a bit ruder/disrespectful since the lockdowns so it's not just men, it doesn't help, but it's not a male only thing.

The theory does indeed teach that any negative societal impact or structure is “violence.” I remember laughing at the idea as being histrionic and ridiculous in a university “peace studies” course in 2011. Evicting people who don’t pay rent is violence, for example, in their Marcusian theory.

To a normal thinking person it’s completely absurd but to those indoctrinated into the death cult that is the left it makes perfect sense which is why they can parrot inanities such as “silence is violence” with a straight face.

Man... not only were the advertisements actually aimed at their core audience, rather than pandering to people who don't even play them, but the games listed in the cover were better than most of the slop that gets pushed out nowadays. We're talking the original Assassin's Creed, Saints Row 2, Uncharted, Lost Planet, NFS Pro Street.

    Refueling wasn't a thing in the official rules until 1994 when F1 felt they needed to spice up the races to compete with American motorsports. It wasn't explicitly banned by the rules until 1983 after some teams started races with low fuel due to figuring out they could finish races quicker by starting light and refueling during tire changes.

    In F1's 74 year history, only during the 15 year period from 1994-2009 was refueling allowed.

    It's because the rules severely limit the fuel rate when the engines can go much higher without affecting reliability or fuel efficiency. The reason F1 limits it is because they believe it levels the playing field among teams, not due to feel-good climate agenda pushing. The move to 4-cylinder engines in the near future is part of that agenda, though, and I'm sure the regulations will have even more of an iron grip. So no possibility of 1600 HP 4-cylinder engines like BMW had in the 1980s.

    I generally have no issues ignoring all the woke bullshit. I'm just here for solid gameplay and a good story. But it's just gotten SO overbearing the last couple years. The biggest recent offender that actually DID offend me was Forbidden West. I loved Zero Dawn and don't even remember how many characters were white, black, or purple, regardless of their sexual orientation. Which is exactly how it SHOULD be. But holy hell does FW shove that rainbow DEI dildo down your throat repeatedly. If you're fighting for survival of the human race you don't inject your sexual orientation into every f*cking conversation with someone you just met. It's so unrealistic and forced that it completely rips you out of any sense of immersion in the story. Even if the characters were straight that would destroy immersion because no one f*cking talks like that. There's so few characters that you know are straight but they make sure it gets thrown in your face any time they aren't.

    Then you have absolutely ZERO straight white males in the game that aren't either a complete oaf, a comically cartoon bad guy, or a massive simp looking for a big strong gurl boss to come save their ass, while the game is absolutely chock full of strong independent "I don't need no man" gurl bosses. Then your 2 leading white male antagonists are so horribly written where the first game at least gave Faro an understandable motive even if you violently disagreed with him, but FW straight up made them cartoon womanizing bad guy monsters with God complexes.

    Forbidden West is a perfect example of DEI run amok and I refuse to spend another penny on Sony titles until they stop being racist against straight white people.

      That's archived from 2021, when the previous Israel-Palestine conflict took place. There was bit of a drama between IGN US and IGN Israel with the latter complaining to the IGN's parent compant about the US branch putting up that Palestinian flag.       I guess I’ll go ahead and gatekeep but gaming used to be niche. You had to have some technical know-how especially for PC multiplayer. I mean normies still played stuff like neopets and The Sims. But the popular games still had their own identities.

      The spread of broadband and social media in the late 2000s / early 2010s began the downfall along with the plug-and-play console revolution. Now everything is thoroughly focus-grouped and MTX’d to hell.

          Imo gaming IS still good, you just need to know where to look.

          Indie games are better than ever. Gaming was a niche hobby, then it got big and ruined by all kinds of interested parties. However, within this big bad gaming, there's a good niche indie scene. We had a nice niche hobby, and we still have a nice niche hobby in indie games today. In a way, nothing has changed. Ironically, only if you've gone mainstream with the games, then gaming is bad.
