number1. Las Vegas Strip resident comedy headliner arrested in L.A..
A Las Vegas Strip headlining comic with a star-crossed past has been arrested on suspicion of tax evasion.
Carlos Mencia, who is in residency at Jimmy Kimmels Comedy Club, was arrested Thursday morning at his home in Los Angeles. A news release issued by the Los Angeles County District Attorneys office Thursday specified the charges.
Court documents show the 58-year-old comedian faces a dozen counts of felony state tax evasion. Mencia is charged with failing to report $8.7 million in personal and corporate income taxes between the tax years of 2019 and 2024.

number3. Global bubble tea brand opens 1st Las Vegas shop.
Younger millennials and Gen Z constitute the core market for bubble teas, something the folks at Chatime surely knew when they chose a spot near UNLV for their first Las Vegas location. The brand, founded in Taiwan in 2005, has more than 1,400 shops around the world.
Chatime is opening at 11 a.m. on Saturday at 4626 S. Maryland Parkway, Suite 3, offering customizable milk teas, fruit teas and signature brown sugar pearl beverages, including dairy-free options, according to an announcement. Franchisee Ashish Bhutiani from New York to Vegas to launch Chatime in the market, the announcement said.
To celebrate the grand opening, the first 50 guests Saturday will receive a free 16-ounce premium milk tea. Guests throughout the opening weekend will also enjoy a buy-one, get-one-free promotion on select beverages.
