Grand rising HP. Itโ€™s with great sadness to share the passing of one of Highland Parkโ€™s finest, Juanita Parnell. Ms. Parnell passed peacefully this past Sunday, June 7, 2026 at the age of 108.
Ms. Parnell was a revered, centenarian community activist and long-time resident of Highland Park, Michigan. Parnell served as the executive assistant to the late Robert B. Blackwell, the first Black mayor of the city.
I had the honor of interviewing her back in 2022 when she was 104 y/o. She has been an inspiration to me and many others in and outside of Highland Park. Condolences to the Parnell family and may she rest well and in peace. She will be greatly missed.
Ms. Juanita Parnell's home-going will be June 20th. Flowers Arrangements, can be sent to:

What a beautiful lady! My mom would send me on errands to drop things off to her at her home. She was beautiful and very independent. May Ms. Parnell rest peacefully! ๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ
