MONTREAL — Johnathon Schaech has inked to co-star alongside Natasha Henstridge in the Citadel Entertainment/HBO thriller “Caracara,” which begins lensing in Toronto today.
The TV pic is produced by Alliance Atlantis Communications subsidiary Citadel Entertainment, with Graeme Clifford (“The Last Don”) helming and Jeff Morton and David Lancaster producing.
Schaech most recently starred as Harry Houdini in the made-for-TNT biopic “Houdini.” Other pics shot by Schaech in the past year include Avenue Pictures’ road movie “Finding Graceland” with Harvey Keitel and Bridget Fonda, “Woundings” and director Gregg Araki’s Sundance entry “Splendor”.

Schaech’s credits also include a starring role in the Tom Hanks-directed “That Thing You Do!,” a role opposite Winona Ryder in “How To Make an American Quilt,” “Hush,” “Welcome to Woop-Woop” and “The Doom Generation.”
“Caracara” tells the tale of Rachel (Henstridge), an ornithological expert studying predatory birds whose reclusive lifestyle is turned upside-down when she lets an FBI surveillance team takeover her apartment for a stakeout. She is soon attracted to the team leader David (Schaech).
Los Angeles-based Le Monde Entertainment, another Alliance subsidiary, will handle worldwide distribution and plans to release the pic theatrically in a number of territories, including Canada and the U.K., where Alliance Atlantis Releasing will handle distribution. HBO will broadcast in the U.S. and take care of U.S. video distribution.
