SANTA CLARA — Several tech firms disclosed plans to chop hundreds of jobs in the Bay Area in fresh disclosures that show the pace of layoffs this year is running ahead of last year’s totals.
ServiceNow, Salesforce, Ubisoft, Quizlet, and Verily Health revealed plans to slash a combined 370 jobs, affecting workers in Santa Clara, San Francisco, and San Bruno.
The layoffs are permanent, according to documents on file with the state Employment Development Department.
In San Francisco, Ubisoft is cutting 93 jobs and Salesforce is eliminating 86. Quizlet cut 79 jobs on June 5.
ServiceNow is cutting 54 jobs at its Lawson Lane headquarters complex in Santa Clara, while Verily Health is eliminating 58 positions in San Bruno, WARN notices show.
The Salesforce and Verily Health cuts are scheduled for Aug. 7. The Ubisoft cutbacks are slated for Aug. 10 and ServiceNow plans to conduct layoffs on Aug. 17.
During 2026, tech companies have reported decisions to cut 9,284 jobs in the Bay Area, WARN notices show. That figure already tops the approximately 4,700 jobs tech companies cut in the nine-county region over the first six months of 2025.
The decision by Meta Platforms to eliminate 3,715 Bay Area jobs so far in 2026 represents a significant chunk of cuts in the region, according to numerous WARN notices on file with the EDD.
