I haven’t been sure if my kid is autistic. ADHD? 150% sure. Autism? Probably.
Welp, she just discovered Pokemon. She got the a Pokemon Super Duper Extra Deluxe Essential Handbook. She hasn’t put it down since. She eats, sleeps, and travels with it.

Yeesh. 😢 Some responses to my ridiculous autistic meltdown story makes me feel like our AuDHD community needs a reminder that autism and adhd is on a spectrum: not all of us are going to act or react the same. And that’s OKAY! Life is hard enough as it is, we should be allowed to have wildly different exeperiences and still be able to support each other.
There’s no “right way” to be neurodivergent. (As long as no one gets hurt (but ourselves) (because of our shit proprioception)).

It’s just a bit alarming how many *FELLOW NEURODIVERGENTS* are telling me that I “shouldn’t go outside” if I’m “going to be like this.”
It might be me (it usually is) but isnt that a fucked up/ableist thing to say? (I’m willing to believe it’s just me— I’m running on 3 hrs of sleep and an energy hangover so I’m starting to doubt my entire world view at this point.)
I’ve been responding w self-deprecating humor, bc I’m a self-aware autistic girly. But I’m starting to see a trend here…

But I finally pay and I make my way back up ALL flights of stairs and do NOT trip this time. Pass the same v concerned usher girl (who I realize now is the same usher every other time I’ve been there and she’s hot, so now I feel EVEN MORE SHEEPISH) and I raise my glass and say “this should help” and she smiles and says “I like your hair” (it’s purple) and I get flustered bc, wait a compliment from her????

And I say “thanks! I like YOUR hair” which I DO! But then immediately overthink and feel dumb bc she’s Black and maybe she thinks I only said that bc white people.
But no time for myself to make things even more awkward, I find my seat. And the show immediately starts again. And…

It’s SO fucking good. I cry more times. Mostly at all the mother/daughter moments and I wish mine could come but also relieved she’s not there bc I can hardly take care of MY OWN SELF, let alone another auDHD person.
And eventually I feel my nervous system start to regulate as I finally can just lose myself in the show, and the actors voices are DELICIOUS. Especially the mom and dad’s. Wow. And I cried over the mother/daughter stuff but now it’s a Good Cry.

I’m sick of my auDHD making me such a jackass. I had tickets to Hell’s Kitchen today at 2. I got there “20 mins late” bc I couldn’t remember my passwords to the 2 apps that authorize them.
then I arrived to an empty lobby. It started at 1!! This is the THIRD TIME I’ve done this, btw.
I went to the bathroom to finish my autistic meltdown. Crying, flapping, throwing up. And went to get to my normal seats in a dark theatre…

But I couldn’t find my normal seats — there should be 2 empty ones on the aisle (my daughter couldn’t come with me today).
So I quickly head back up the dark staircase and I trip once. Got my balance and hurry even more bc now I’m VERY AWARE I’m making a scene. And then trip again, and fell.
The usher asks if I’m okay I whisper “I can’t find my seat, but it’s fine I’ll just sit here” (the very last empty row). She doesn’t hear me, she again and I reach out cup my mouth and whisper but I…

End up caressing her face instead. She flinches and pulls away bc that was a fucking weird thing for me to do!! she asks again “where’s your seat?” I finally just tell her. She says, “I’ll show you.” And i realize why I couldn’t find it — bc I was looking for 2 empty seats and someone had been sitting in my extra one. I’m embarrassed bc it was literally the ONLY open seat. I should have just sat the fuck down the first time.
Show is going. I’m sweating and shaking and emabarassed been. And so…

i start crying AGAIN. I can’t even blame the music bc the song that’s playing is joyful AF, I realize my daughter would’ve really loved it. but just as I’m starting to regulate myself…
immediately the next scene is the absolute pure chaos of the Black experience with cops, and the whole theatre is flashing red lights and sirens, which is meant to make the audience feel VIOLATED (and cover up at staging moment).

Plant People! Why/how is this happening???
6 years ago my friend gave me this plant in LA. 3 years ago another friend took a clipping with her back to Seattle where it’s been growing ever since. We call them “sister plants.”
For the first time EVER my plant has grown this AWESOME flowery thing…

How is it possible that 2 plants, one that started growing on its own years later, and in 2 very different environments could be doing the same thing at the same time for the first time ever?
Maybe it’s not that crazy, but I’m super surprised by this.

When I get a migraine, as I wait for the Nurtec to kick in, I order fries and a coke from Mc Donald’s — which I know works for a lot of us. But then my next step (if that didn’t work) is a glass of red wine! I’m prob nearly alone on that one.
I love that my body is like “you were too active yesterday, sit tf down in a dark hole where you belong and eat some slop and drink some poison. You had no business being Part of Their World for that long, you gremlin.”

The thing about getting my kid diagnosed with ADHD, is that I also have ADHD, so the process is definitely taking a lot longer than it should. 🤦♀️

Gah. I can’t even do the Cat Distribution Thing right! The stray cat that “chose us” went & pissed off my husband so much that it’s not allowed in our house anymore. And now he’s going over to the neighbors house and they’re annoyed with him. So now I’m spending money and time fixing and feeding a cat that I don’t get to “have” but that I’m also getting shit for. 😿

I am now on my 4th “when it happens” bottle of champs, bc I keep having other champagne-worthy moments in the meantime. 🤬
To all the people who said “Oh, that’s just normal kid behavior” when I’d say I’m pretty sure my child has ADHD (bc game recognizes game!!):
The ADHD evaluator was like “I still need to hear back from her teacher, so I’m getting a little bit ahead of myself, but let me give you guys an *entire-ass slideshow* about what your kid’s brain is like with ADHD.”
And as we left said, “Ok, when I get the form from her teacher, I’ll call you and we’ll talk about what meds you wanna start with.”

At her ADHD assessment my 7yo kid was asked “who’s the president right now?” And as she just stared blankly, I said “Um…. We haven’t had the heart to break that news to her yet.”
